Mobile marketing is definitely going to be the next big thing. Everything is on the mobile phone now. Be it a video, a ppt, a file or anything. You can carry mobiles anywhere you like, no botheration to carry any heavy equipment. Therefore there will be more new features added to the mobiles in the future. These facts suggest that mobile marketing is the next big thing.

There is no doubt that mobile marketing is profitable, but not everyone uses there phones so heavily. Traditional online marketing still has its place. I could not imagine doing all the work that I now do using a tiny keyboard and a 4.5 inch screen! If they made them any bigger they would be recreating the laptop or tablet, so mobile marketing can't take over that much. Still, it is powerful and lucrative.

There's a definite shift towards to mobile/tablet. I don't think it'll completely take over PC, but you never know. We'll just have to wait and see!

As a part-timer in the wireless industry and part-timer in Network Marketing, I can tell you that out 10 people 9 uses their devices specially cell-phones to look at the content on blogs, sites special offers etc.. now with communication open all the way there is many text services out there making ton of money too. I put a test with my primary Company on a QR code, and for my surprise I got 2 sign ups that just scanned the code into their cellphones and signed up, when I contacted them, they told me Well I'm always on the go and I SsAW YOU ON MY Phone and decided to give a try. As per our last survey 67% of the people would rather to wtach a movie on their Smart-Phones then to watch it at home. In about 3 years Mobile Marketing will be huge, won't replace laptops and computers but will be making a big whole to Desktops and Laptops, just take apple for example, from desktops computers to wireless devices. |

Absolutely, Now a days how many people use a Desktop?? I think the percentage is very low. Few years back Laptop has been the craze and now High quality Mobiles, Palmtop, I phones, Tablets are ruling the digital market. No one bother to surf internet in Desktop or Laptop now, all are going for Mobile phones and other small gadgets. Thus Mobile marketing is the next Big thing which becomes so popular.

I would like to see how websites will be built without proper pc's for one, in the UK people complain about their providers overcharging them because they use up all their airtime on you tube. I use my pc to run netflix through to my telly. PC's will always be around. My wife came home the other day and i almost fell off my seat when she told me a co worker had ordered broadband for his ipad, and could not set it up because he couldnt find a slot for the installation cd on his ipad.... Mobile websites have their place Responsive websites will make people money, because of the vast amount of different devices that connect to the internet.

The point is you need to cater for everyone at all times, not just mobile users. Mobile sites are great, i love them but don't think for one second that they will replace PC's because they won't.

Mobile won't replace Pc'S But is growing big time nowadays, also there is many companies already making big bucks out of mobile marketing and converting websites to mobile like mobify and all. I ran a test-text to 35 of people and 2 of them joined me and when I asked them, they said, well I'm planing to run this business out of my tablet and the other one out of his Iphone. both of them are on the go most of the time traveling. also google and apple are driving 78% of their revenues just on mobile, and mobile apps. I work part-time in the mobile industry for one of the largest carrier in USA and part-time at home and I'm considering CONVERTING 45% of my business to mobile devices. |

I'd love to hear more from you Gabbo. What techniques are you using for a 12K/month return? Don't need to get specific - but are you talking about CPA, pay per call, offline mobile site/app sales, ?? |

People are lazy - we all know that - so when you travel alot and carring the full 19inch screen laptop or the iPad with the keyboard .. there is a def idea that wireless is better. But you still have to find a Powerpoint in the airports or cafes!

As the technology is changing day by day, people use to surf a lot with their smart phones, but it does not mean that computer and laptops are old thing. People still uses computers at their office, since they prefer to surf web and watch videos via mobile phone while the are on the move. Yes, mobile marketing is next big thing. |

My brother is an insurance agent, and reaches out to people through mobile marketing every day. These same people who he has tried to call, e-mail, send snail mail too, but never got a response from. For some reason, when someone gets a text message, they seem to be much more likely to actually respond. It depends on your target audience and what you're trying to market, but I would say that mobile marketing is definitely beneficial. It's not too hard to do, and you'll be getting responses from people who you probably otherwise never would have. |

If you look at the motorola atrix and google the phrase "ubuntu phone" you can see where mobile is going. A phone you carry around that has 100gb internal memory and 100gb micro sd card (we are close to those numbers now) could replace a pc. Plug it in to the dock and use a full size key board at work or home. Work files can be stored and accessed in the cloud. A tablet with portable keyboard might do better but the phone can act as a hot spot for the data connection. It will be convenient to have most of your work files, websites and favorite places accessable anywhere. |

Yes, I think probably so, but only if you include tablets in "mobile". It seems apparent that the rapid growth in tablet sales is probably closely related to the dissatisfaction of people with the screen size of smart phones, particularly when browsing the web. Last time I checked a couple of months ago, mobile phones accounted for about 4% of total page views, and tablets about 3%, if I remember correctly. And if you look at what kinds of sites mobile users access, I think you'll see that mobile sites for most businesses overall get very little traffic. My guess is that we'll start seeing more and more people carrying both a phone and a tablet, and if you do that, why do you need a smart phone? |

No, you need a cell phone to make phone calls, but you don't need a smart phone. And why pay for a data plan on both a smart phone and a tablet? Yes, many people will, but in this economy especially, I think you'll start seeing more people buying a basic phone plus a tablet.

The reason for it being on tablets and not on phones is that most shops are not Mobile Ready. And on a tablet you can watch the full websites in a normal view because of the bigger screen! ![]() I've seen on 1 of my sites more sales thru a mobile than thru a normal shop, just because it was EASY to buy! Mobile users are likely to take action quicker. Just go with your mobile to flytouch3.nl and tell me if you couldn't buy easy

Great thread. As stated here by many, the statistics are undeniable, yet many businesses are slow to adopt. ONE reason, which is even evident by the many solutions mentioned so far in this thread, is the mass confusion that most business owners face... in regards to their marketing options and what they "NEED." Do they "need" a mobile website, SMS marketing, mobile App, NFC, Google+ Local, SEO, Rep Management, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare.... and on and on. Most biz owners know little about any of this, they just want to run their business and get more customers! As consultants/marketing advisors, our job is to help the biz owner see through the clutter, and NOT sell them what we want but to find out what, of all of these kinds of technologies and services, will benefit them most, then guide them toward a solution. They need our help. If they don't see the benefit, there's no ROI and therefore most likely no sale. Business owners don't want to be on Page 1 of Google..... they want the customers that result from being on Page 1. Mobile is exploding, and small business owners are ready for solutions that will bring them more customers, more revenue and more profits. |

But they want MORE customers coming through their door, LITERALLY, and if you can't produce results in 30 to 60 days ... they seem to lose interest. No matter WHAT service you're offering. That's been MY experience, of course your mileage may vary. Interestingly, I have had far more success pitching small local business owners on simple NON-tech services rather than the new, latest and greatest. I learned the hard way. I sell what they want to buy ... not what I want them too.

Well, looking at Twitter, I'd say mobile blogging will be the norm for the next 2 years. It’s practically impossible to attend an event and simultaneously take photos with a digicam, download them to a laptop, ask the waiter for wifi password, get connected, upload them photos to the computer, resize the photos, upload them to the blog, write a paragraph or two, tag everything post and distribute the post. Oh and you have to click "Safely remove your device", if you are using windows OS =)

I can vouch for that. Our mobile speeds are pretty ridiculous. Thank Christ for WIFI or I would very rarely use the Internet on my phone.
