NFl SMS campaign numbers

Thought this info might be useful to some fellow SMS providers and marketers.

With the NFL's SMS campaign over the Superbowl, the awareness of SMS campaigns to nearly every business owner I talk to is much greater. In addition to the ads that everybody saw there is a nice article including some of the substantial numbers they received that I like to talk about when mentioning the campaign. You can see the article here NFL Completes End Run With Text-Message Super Bowl Ad but the numbers are a staggering 1.7 million opt ins from one commercial. The commercial has done wonders for awareness and the numbers have done wonders in helping me close customers. Hope this information can assist fellow SMS providers in increasing your business.

I agree that the exposure to SMS that the NFL campaign generated should help educate the SMB owners we are selling our services to.

However, in my personal case, the NFL blew it on the "keeping subscribers on the list" front. The very first message I received after joining this list came at 1:00 AM (US Pacific time). I, of course, immediately unsubscribed after being woken from my sleep. If this happened to me, I'm certain that this had to have happened to at least a small portion, and maybe more, of that 1.7 million subscriber list.

I think Lime Cellular is the best white label SMS marketing platform.

Yeah, definitely not a good thing. I did not opt in so I did not see that side of it. I think that has a lot to do with who is providing their platform, just could not handle the volume. Maybe for those that experienced that we could use that as a selling point; "my system would handle that volume within an hour" or something to that effect. Thanks for the input Nick!
