Hello guys, I'm just thinking of a few ideas to plunge in the mobile category with as I believe the demand for mobile products and services will boom soon. I'm thinking of what I could offer, and besides Mobile Web Design, Mobile Wordpress Templates and QR Codes I'm having trouble thinking of what else could be offered in the mobile service field. What ideas do you guys have? What's going to be in demand in the future in your opinion - or perhaps something that's not mainstream yet Would love to know your thoughts! Thanks, Nick |

Why text message marketing? Text messaging is slowly dying, not progressing. I look at myself with an iPhones have Facebook Messenger, Skype and free text message alternatives like WhatsApp (top downloaded iphone app) Look at mobile phones companies, a few years ago they would make you pay for texts, now most plans come with unlimited text messaging - no cost OK, more people than ever have mobile phones, but why is it the obvious progression? |

I haven't signed up for any SMS lists, but, then again, no local businesses in my area offer them. I think a certain percentage of ppl will always sign up for offers or info that interests y Them. And there always has to be someone to Introduce new ideas to the market. Qr codes were weird about 18 months ago but now all major companies are using them. And there are lots of different Businesses that can use qr codes. Look up sms case studies online |

Also I don't think free alternatives allow for bulk texting, correct me if I'm wrong, but they're not set up for texting hundreds of contacts simultaneously

| Set up a "Discount of the Day" program! Place Signs around town....ON "Table-Tents" in participating restaurants...ads in local paper and especially, the Community College or University NEWSPAPERS.....informing consumers of your "Discount Of The Day" program where they get "Discount Coupons" texted to them. Also put QR Codes on the Ads! Those who Opt-In KNOW they will be receiving Discount Coupons ON THEIR CELL....and will be looking forward to receiving them! Just 1,000 local consumers who have opted in SHOULD be worth $200 a MONTH per sponsor. 20 Sponsors x $200 = $4,000 A MONTH for YOU! Get 40 sponsors (send 2 texts a day...5 days a week....40 texts a month) can bring in....40 x $200 = $8,000 A MONTH! I could live on that! PLUS....ALL members of the "Digital DIscount Club" would be EAGER to receive texts! Go fer it! Don Alm....Idea-Guy |

In my neck of the woods (southern US) text mesg marketing is going out of style. I have met with plenty of clients who tried it in the past and no matter how I tried to spin it positive they were just not interested. As far as customers go, the get a text alert form their friend they open and respond. Then they get a text from a business (even though they opted in) and they immediately delete it if its not something that interests them at that moment (the whole short attention span thing). I'm sure its diff in other parts of the world - but in the US - it has already run its course per say because of abuse. If they had been cautious like WillR said, it will still be more viable. |

Saying SMS marketing is dead is like saying email was dead ten years ago. In the past there has not been enough cell phone users to warrant SMS marketing but as mobile usage overtakes desktop usage in the next year or two it only makes sense that SMS marketing will be the most effective way to reach out to your customers. It's up to you to sell that service effectively and show these clients the types of results you can achieve for them.

Think about the types of things people will be doing on their mobile phones in the next couple of years. Obviously m-commerce is going to be a huge one as more and more people trust the mobile web for their purchasers.

I have been selling Mobile Websites and recently started up selling my clients to SMS Marketing. I just picked up Will's SMS Marketing package and the interest has been very strong! It's a new way of marketing for a lot of traditional business owners. They are starting to see the power of Facebook and Twitter. Most of them don't want to be left behind on technology advancement. They might not understand everything but once you explain it to them - most will be on board. |

Mobile sites and SMS marketing go hand in hand....SMS is not dying and maybe in the next few years there will be more regulations but it will still be a powerful tool to reach customers. In fact, I received one yesterday from a local gas station chain for a free pack of gum, no purchase necessary. Guess where I filled up my tank? |

Thanks for your tip. How do you think this will work? Getting product catalogue feeds from existing sites and putting it into a web app? Would like to know how you would go about doing this Nick

If you want a good example of m-commerce then check out the mobile site below. They have done a GREAT job of replicating their standard e-commerce website in a mobile format -- I think it works well and it shows that you don't need to necessarily go the route of having expensive applications designed for all the different platforms when a web-app like this works so well across all devices. Yeah, text messaging service should be an obvious feature that you should offer. If you want to go multi channel, look for platforms that offer multiple channels of marketing so that your customers can have 100% customer reach.

Hey, Nick - I've been wondering the same question myself lately! I understand that Google has set up a separate search engine just for mobile. There are also special directories just for mobile, so maybe a small "Mobile SEO" package might be an option. You could include in this package the monitoring (on behalf of your customer) of all the review sites that are "mobilized" by apps. I'm thinking of the app for "Yelp." A local business would want to have a listing on Yelp, especially if they were a restaurant, but other businesses can benefit too. What is it, "social reputation management?" and that could be a side mobile service offering. Also, don't forget that Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube work really well on mobile, so any services you offer around social media, you can offer as a side service of your mobile business, right? |

In our opinion, the reason SMS marketing is progressing is laid out in statistics. "98% of cell users open their text messages within 2 minutes" iPhone doesn't let you do anything until you read your messages (heard this from others) Imagine customers opting into their favorite restaurant, and having an sms blast during lunch hour. "Come into XYZ Restaurant for lunch today! Show this and get X% off your total bill!" The efficiency is far superior to 20th century marketing campaigns, such as fliers, postcards, etc. At least in our opinion. That's why we went ahead and launched a multi channel marketing platform that utilizes everything from sms/mms & mobile coupons, to QR codes, social media, instant messaging etc. The fact of the matter is that as consumers get more tech savvy, businesses also must get more tech savvy and find innovative ways to reach their customers. So when you say mobile services are dying not progressing, be it true or not, it's still more efficient than marketing materials, and paying labor for near obsolete methods.

Why not sell accommodation over mobi? holiday accommodation is a great way to advertise and get people listed to see how they react. I use my mobile to search for accommodation in a certain given area so maybe that would be a good one to look into?

Are you saying, perhaps, something along the lines of finding out when an individual will be in, lets say Northern Dallas, and prior to the individual's departure, advertise specifically holiday packages? Seems like a good idea, from what I understand. I may be heavily confused -K
