Just started selling SMS, so far doing good.
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

So I already own a mobile marketing company selling QR Codes & Mobile Landing Pages (all done in the software). I wanted to add a SMS service and went with iZigg. I did an apples to apples comparison and made lots of calls to different SMS providers, so I feel it was the right choice considering what I wanted to offer.

Right now I'm selling 3000 txt messages, 2 keywords, Unlimited groups with unlimited default codes (act like keywords, just randomly generated), One Mobile Landing Site and one QR Code. for $99.95 a month.

I offer to created the mobile landing page for them, literally takes me about 5 minutes with my software. So far this package is selling like hot cakes.

for $15 more a month I can provide one more keyword with unlimited auto-responder, great for those who want to maximize the 3000 text messages for out bound promotions.

if you want to see how Im utilizing the auto-responder and merging it with my companies tech just text: "ilikethis" to 90210.

it's an easy sale once the business owner does this.

let me know what you think. thx.

What white label platform are you using to provide this service to your clients?

Not doing white label at all. I created the MeYowza platform (well I hired someone to program it), and I use iZigg platform for the SMS.

Just sold another package to a Medical Wellness Center in Orlando, FL. My last two sales I got off Groupon! Anyone know of other sites like groupon other than living social? Please reply!

Nick, all you have to do is Google "Daily Deal sites" and you will find a bunch of them...

MoneyMailer and ValuPak are a great source of leads as well.

Does not currently work with metro pcs. Spoke to co-owner of iZigg and he tells me they are working on it. Sucks, cause I hear metropcs is a 9 million customer base. Which is about 2.8% market share. Which means 30 out of 1000 won't get the text. Still business owners are looking at flexibility, price point & features to see past that issue.

I'm very close to starting my own SMS-based service and what you are doing sounds great. Only one problem, you're too cheap. Seriously, do you charge a setup fee? Haha you're giving out a great deal, are you making more on a higher ratio of buyers?

Also may I ask what software you personally use to make you're mobile landing pages?

I use a combination of methods.

Use WillR's SMS Video Package: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...available.html

Today, I gave my iPad to a client that had that video in it and told them to watch it. This is what I said " Here, watch this 3 and half minute video...you will either get it or you won't, afterward if you're interested we'll talk further.
The video does all the selling. All I do is talk about how to apply the SMS marketing to their business. BTW, WillR package is a must if you want to sell SMS the easy way.

I found my first 3 clients on groupon.com. I used the Andrew Mitchell's WSO. Only $9. He gives you some good nuggets on how to find clients and gives you phone scripts too!
http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...-tomorrow.html

Well worth the $9.

So pretty much I use the social media to find leads and then cold call them using Andrew Mitchells scripts and use WillRs video to make the sale. Like I said...hot cakes.

With the izigg - do you manage the system for them or let them do it themselves? I have been torn with this for a while. hate to let users go crazy texting and pi$$ of the list but also don't want them tracking me down late at night because they are having a slow night at the bar and want to get a late night text out!

They manage the the campaigns themselves. It's why iZigg is pretty competitive on pricing for the end user. I know some people charge .35 cents per message, and can justify charging $350 a month for 1000 messages or so, that all depends how well you service your clients. I rather be selling and training vs selling and managing.

As for the client pi$$ing of the customer list...that depends how well you educate them. I wonder if there something online that trains the end user on how to use SMS.

THAT wold be nice! I can just see it - Wed at the pub - slow as sh*t - "lets send out 10 texts - that should get them in!" OUCH!
I have a place by me - they text every Thursday as a reminder that here is a band with a special attached to the text. They also use it sparingly throughout the season. Next time I am in I will ask the owner how his RIO is on the system they use. Maybe a good way to handle a new cust would be to sit down and do the first months texts with them so they can see what to do?

Im pretty good at copy, so I offer to write up the text for the auto-responder, and help out with what offers should be presented when asking someone to join the VIP Club.

Im not quite understanding your question.

Let me try to answer what I understand; I have an extensive Direct Marketing background. I use to be the Sales Supervisor for the Direct Mail Marketing Division of my last employer before starting my own company. What I learned there is what I use to write the offer for people to sign up for the VIP Club and what the auto-responder will say after they sign up. What it comes down to is educating the business owner on the value of the opt-in client. I tell my clients give them your best offer if they are paying. Use the money they give you to break even on the offer. At least you aren't losing money and in return you have a direct line to that person for future promos.

I told my last client to offer 3 4 1 Domestic Beer on their first round just for signing up. He told me that he wouldn't make any money. But then I told him great! At least you aren't losing any! Plus you know they are coming back for the 2nd and 3rd and 4th rounds and so on while they are here. Every round after their first you offer 2 4 1 and at least you are recouping some of the money lost of the first round and making some profit! Then up sale with appetizers and bar food. The whole point is making that client feel like a million bucks, because when they see that first promo two weeks later, their going to remember how they felt that night at your bar and come in and take advantage of that current offer.

Also, sell SMS as a retaining system to Groupon, Living Social and other daily deal sites. Educate them in making more money for offering the same deals to the people who came in from those sites.

It doesn't make sense to pay groupon twice for YOUR clients. Use groupon to get them in, and use SMS to retain them.

Remember that many businesses that do groupon deals pay anywhere from 30% to 50% of what they net on the deal. So really when they offer 50% off, its actually 75% off. SMS gives them a 25% raise everytime the send the offer out!

Also, some people don't really understand leverage. Society has taught them to be part of this pyramid scheme:
Well, for starters...as an example, our Resellers get 40%...pretty significant difference.

Second, our clients get a lot more than just SMS for their monthly subscription price.

Third, Clients can opt to Self Manage but that only leads to a higher rate of attrition...usually within 90 days because the platform wasnt utilized properly and the Business Owner starts thinking it doesnt work.

Basically, at that stage, you'll end up with 25% and 5% of Nothing!

I do understand Leverage, but I also understand "Dilution" and "Devaluation"

Just to be clear, I am not bashing you or IZigg....just pointing out why these factors arent working out in your, or your clients, best interest in the long run.

Then there is the whole issue of the founders history of running foul of the government and getting his other MLM creations shut down. (BurnLounge & LocalAdLink)

That wouldnt be doing you or your clients any favors if history was to repeat itself.

As for the Pic...MLM is no different, except all the money is with the "Top Bird" and the ones below him get to peck at whatever loose change falls out of "TopBirds" Pickets!

Sure, they let you "THINK" that you are your own Boss...until they feel like you violated one of their Terms...and then you get to find out how little control, if any, you actually have over any aspect of your "Business"

I appreciate your concern about the strength of the company. With it being the fastest growing SMS company in the industry along with clients such as Snoop Dog, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Herman Cain, Sarah Palin, 4 time NBA Champion John Salley, NFL for 16 years...Rodney Peete, Lakers/Suns tickets from NBA All-Star and NBA Slam Dunk Champion Cedric Ceballos, RMD Corp, who runs Hooters in 4 States, Franchise Owners of Sonic, PaPa Johns, Subway, Verizon Wireless, Adretti Indoor Racing and companies like DataVision, Oxygen Financial even Boulder City Chamber Of Commerce. With a list of clients like, I can only hope that I made the correct choice.

I find it great that your resellers get paid 40%! They deserve it if they are managing the accounts. As for me, Im ok with 25% since I have experience setting up clients and training them how to use software, then moving on. Like Meyowza.com and MeyowzaPrint.com, which are both selfserve services. I have very low attrition with both divisions of the company and plan on doing the same with the SMS service.

As for BurnLounge, it seems they got hit with the FTC, but are restructuring the business model. Unfortunately, when you play in someone else's backyard you'll be noticed. Ask Napster, they got shut down, and one of the founders became the founding president to facebook. Perhaps this is the similar situation. As for localadlink, I dont know enough to comment, but Ill do my research and comment at another date.

As for your analogy with the birds and MLM...I have to disagree. It's because of my other MLM business I was able to leave my last job to start my own company. Most people wouldn't walk away from a job if they didn't have some sort of back up to replace that income.

All in all, I hope my picture and comments didn't offend you. I see valuable participant to the WF and have lots of respect on what you have created for yourself.

40% is for Self Serve Accounts. Managed Services are billed separately. Resellers keep 100% of that money.

As for IZigg being the fastest growing...the only persons I have heard make that claim are IZigg Members....

Like I said...I'm not bashing you or your decision. I am just pointing out flaws in the MLM Business Model.

Do you use the "software" with WillR's SMS Video Package too?

In other words, have you tested sending a "personalized" e-mail to a potential prospect which sends them to the landing page with a video on it?

Also, I assume you are using the video that comes with his package? i.e. in the example above.

Lastly, am I right to think that once you sign up a business the key to making SMS work is coming up with a great offer to get people on the list? And then of course ... continuing that every month etc.

Thanks.

I found my first 3 clients on groupon.com. I used the Andrew Mitchell's WSO. Only $9. He gives you some good nuggets on how to find clients and gives you phone scripts too!

Well worth the $9.

So pretty much I use the social media to find leads and then cold call them using Andrew Mitchells scripts and use WillRs video to make the sale. Like I said...hot cakes.

I have my own method on using the video.

Yes, I have tested sending out personalized emails with personalized landing pages that feature the business name in the URL and in the website copy. I only send them the website after I make contact with them and letting them know that I will be emailing them an email with a video to better explain how text message marketing can work for their business. I also make it clear that I will follow up with them with in 24 to 48hrs (depending on their schedule).

Also, I assume you are using the video that comes with his package? i.e. in the example above.

I am using the video on the personalized landing pages, but I also use the video offline, on my ipad. This works well because its only 3:44 minutes long. The video does a great job selling the idea. All I do is sell the price.

Lastly, am I right to think that once you sign up a business the key to making SMS work is coming up with a great offer to get people on the list? And then of course ... continuing that every month etc.

Yes, I do help them with creating an offer and getting it out there. I have invested interest if the client gets 25 subscribers and sends out one promo in the first 30 days. I give them a free QR Code, a mobile landing page (free as long as they are paying for the SMS package), I sell them print collateral through my company and while they are waiting for the printing and build them a flyer on my ipad and email them the pdf so they can go to kinkos or upsstore to print out some flyers.

Thanks.

Great offers are always good for response but the most important aspect is not the offer but just keeping your customers engaged.

So far this package is selling like hot cakes.

for $15 more a month I can provide one more keyword with unlimited auto-responder, great for those who want to maximize the 3000 text messages for out bound promotions.

if you want to see how Im utilizing the auto-responder and merging it with my companies tech just text: "ilikethis" to 90210.

it's an easy sale once the business owner does this.

let me know what you think. thx.
Hi! Great software! Is this available outside the US?

I love how you just get a client to watch the presell video on your ipad (Note to self: Get an Ipad for Work Purposes!) and move on if they don't get it!

Would be interested to know more about how you use social media to find leads to begin with but I don't have enough posts to PM you.
