Mobile Website Builder! A Newbie's Question?
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi

50% of the traffic coming to my sites is through mobile devices. One site is a wordpress site and the other a subdomain with a site I built myself using HTML codes, bit of CSS, then uploaded to that subdoimain).

How do I build a mobile version of these sites? Do I have to build another site from scratch? Do I need a specific pluggin for it?

Thanks a lot for your response

You should try dudamobile.com. You simply past the url of your exisiting website into the box on the homepage and click the "Make My Site Mobile" button that converts your current website to a mobile optimized version. This is free to do, unless you want to add certain premium features such as a tap to call button, google places maps, eliminate any mobile ads, or remove the dudamobile footer etc.

Once your site is converted (which only takes a matter of seconds), dudamobile will automatically generate a re-direct script that you simply insert into your existing website html code. For wordpress, in the dashboard you would go to appearance, editor, header, and insert the re-direct script within the header section.

Then anyone who visits your website from a mobile phone/device should be automatically re-directed to the mobile optimized version.

Hope that helps.

Adam

Or you can have a look at Wills WSO here and build your own. If you have enough skills to have an html site, you can have your mobile site set up tomorrow. And then you will control it.

I have no dog in the fight, I just have this product and it is very easy to use.

I was actually checking the reviews and comments on WillR WSO and it seems to be the best way to go. The websites look great and straightforward...

Funny, I want to start creating mobile sites and I don't even own a smartphone or an iPhone. I guess finally I need to get one

Thanks Dan

Danny, I have not even created my own site. I have very little knowledge on website creation as I majored in business, not computer science. Do you think it will still be easy for me to use WillR's mobile site builder? I am computer savvy, but I have no html background whatsoever.

P.S. you did not spell opinion right in your sig, just thought you might want to know!

Also consider Quentin's offering. That's the one I started out with and eventually tweaked things to set up my own system of building. You can't go wrong with either one, really.

I do voice over work... here's a SAMPLE
