Awesome information. So much value. Question.. Are you still managing their in house sms program and trying to build their list, manage their mobile websites etc? Or is Napa Search your primary project now? CHeers |

Hey great question. We do still manage their mobile website however we do not do in house sms anymore. Rite now we are focused on getting our new contest started. Its pretty cool. We are going to send clues out to our list once a day that lead to a page on our directory. People will have to find that page and text in a code they will find there. The 10th person will win a gift certificate (usually about a 50$ value) for that business. Everyone else gets a coupon from the business. Pretty excited we have over 30 businesses on board already.

Great thread.. you don't do Google Places anymore for the client for their mobile site? Or is that a part of setup? Do you still bring in new business prospects as you did previous with offering a free coupon to the list? Then they either go for it or not with no trial as you don't do in house sms. Are you also adding new business by creating sites for the mobile directory and then contacting them and the same either they go for it or not? |

Most of the new clients coming in do so by way of the directory. We build them a page and then pop in and show it to them. The new contest is great as well. People text in to enter for free, then every day we will send out a clue that leads to a page on the directory. People have to use that clue to find the page and then text in the winning code that we place on that page. The tenth person to text in the code will when a gift certificate for that business. Everyone else (not just people who played that day but everyone who has opted in to the play at sometime) will receive a coupon for that business. This is cool because it brings people directly to their page as well as gets their coupon directly to peoples phones. Thank you..

When setting up a local mobile niche specific directory ie, "Plumbers in Cityname" what is the best way to do the Mobile SEO? I ask this because when I type that search phrase into my mobile phone browser all I see is Google's Local Places. Is there another/better way to do SEO for mobile?

Maybe create a places page as a plumbing consultant and moving that up the list? Sadly when someone searches for a business from a mobile device Google is still going to list endless non mobile optimized sites before yours. Makes zero sense with all their talk about mobile. For me the best way to get traffic to my directory is 1. Buy local mobile traffic on Google and Facebook. It still way cheaper than for a desktop. 2. Social media like Facebook and twitter is a good source of traffic. If you know a few people that are active have them repost your info.

Sadly, all my local websites that were ranking page One (1) on Google have now been banished to the back of beyond by the Big Bad Penguin. I did all the SEO myself using White Hat methods but it does not matter with Google. I would like to build mobile directories that are not dependant on Google alone for traffic. Like you say Adwords might be an option but it might be too pricey? I already run another lead gen campaign using adwords and I pay average of $4.00 per click. This would be far far too expensive for running a mobile directory website.

This is a great reference thread. Lots of really good ideas flowing around here. Subscribed. For those going the emailing / cold-calling route (whether in part, or completely), I can highly recommend the "Localizer Lead Tool". I bought it when it was about $9 on a dime sale months back. I think it's around $90-$100 now, but still WELL worth that price. Comes with free lifetime updates too. Really excellent piece of software that is both PC and Mac friendly. Can't say enough good things about it, and Jeff is a friendly, helpful guy as well. |

MoBuzz, great thread man! I saw that you send your text blast at about 4 pm. I think if you test sending it around 10 a.m. you will get a slightly hire conversion of coupon redemptions because people get the text deal earlier and can plan their day around whether or not they want to eat at the restaurant for lunch OR dinner... By texting at 4 pm you are only giving them the one option of eating at the restaurant for dinner. Keep up the great work man!

Hey thanks for the great advice. I actually have two list so I have been rotating and testing results. The thing is dinner is a much higher ticket and alot of my clients have really been trying to push weekday dinner specials. But you are correct, over all redemption numbers were about 10-15% higher sending about 10 am.

10-15% higher redemption rate. So what redemption rate is when you send texts at 4pm? I have another question: How long did you build your list to 1000, 2000 and more numbers? Thank you. Robert

Sending at 4pm we got roughly 7-10% depending on the strength of the offer more than anything. Sending earlier we got an additional 10-15% of the original results. Not 15% in total lol.. Now that would have been fantastic With the methods that we are using you can add 1000-2000 people to your list in a couple weeks pretty easy. |

Hi MoBuzz, Thank you very much for your help. Anyway 7-10% and upt o 12% is amazing response. I can imagine that business owners were surprised getting so many customers after sending one text message with a promo offer. What ways did you build your mobile numbers database? I remember you gave business cards/flyers to business owners and local club was distributing leaflets too. Did you do anything else? Thank you again. Robert

hi mobuzz, first, just thank you for all the time you spent contributing awesome info to this thread. i have read the entire thing 2x, and i had a few questions which i didn't see asked yet. i was hoping maybe you could help me with? 1. you say you start your program with 2 keywords and 500 messages...why 2 keywords and also what is the per charge/ext amount you charge for overages? 2. you say you give 20% of profits to local food bank, was that 20% of the monthly fee of $299, each month? 3. when you have customers in the trial period, how do they/you measure the response rate? if its just showing the text to a server, you have to rely on them keeping a good count i guess? 4. do clients prefer you manage their campaign or do they prefer to have access via their own login through lime? 5. you stated: I am planning to update this thread and show what the flyers that I use look like ect in a couple days when I have more time. was wondering if you could post those if you have time? 6. finally, you only joined WF in march, but you been on for years? mostly as a silent reader i guess? (me too) anyways thank you again SO much, this has been probably the most helpful and informative thread i have read in a long long time. if you run your business anywhere near as thorough as you have been in this thread, i have no doubt you are crushing it! |

just wanted to post mobuzz's response (viapm) to the questions i posted in this thread earlier, in case anyone was interested.... hi mobuzz, first, just thank you for all the time you spent contributing awesome info to this thread. i have read through entire thing 2x, and i had a few questions which i didn't see asked yet. i was hoping maybe you could help me with? 1. you say you start your program with 2 keywords and 500 messages...why 2 keywords and also what is the per charge/ext amount you charge for overages? We now give unlimited keywords, this was just a matter of the level our own platform started at. We do not get overages for text as we manage the campaigns. 2. you say you give 20% of profits to local food bank, was that 20% of the monthly fee of $299, each month? Yes but we are now working with youth groups/sports teams. 3. when you have customers in the trial period, how do they/you measure the response rate? if its just showing the text to a server, you have to rely on them keeping a good count i guess? Yes with any type of marketing having a good method of monitoring results is crucial. For sms it is simple, coupons are scanned to redeem and our software provides reporting. 4. do clients prefer you manage their campaign or do they prefer to have access via their own login through lime? also, do you have their lawyer draft any kind of sms terms and agreement that outlines how many texts they may get a month (like in the my attachment)etc etc? We manage all accounts. If I was going to let them manage it themselves I would def have something drafted up by a lawyer. The last thing you want is to be sued over a client spamming people. 5. you stated: I am planning to update this thread and show what the flyers that I use look like ect in a couple days when I have more time. was wondering if you could post those if you have time? I actually did post it but the problem was having so many curious folks from the warrior forum opting in to our program to check it out. Sending text to out of state folks is not just a waste of $ but also looks bad in client reporting. I will try and pull it up and send it over to you. 6. finally, you only joined WF in march, but you been on for years? mostly as a silent reader i guess? (me too) anyways thank you again SO much, this has been probably the most helpful and informative thread i have read in a long long time. if you run your business anywhere near as thorough as you have been in this thread, i have no doubt you are crushing it! Thank you and yes I was a silent reader for years : ) Please take a minute to check out our upcoming WSO which includes video training, private label platform, sales website, table tents, ihone/ipad biz cards and flyers, post cards and way to much to list here. |

You should try throwing instagram in the mix. Its a mobile network that you can only access through a phone unless you have an app on google chrome. I think it might be of some assistance..with sales I mean |

Hey Mo... A very excellent business plan. I am going to implement it with a few twists of my own. Having been in Industrial Sales for the last 26-years I can see merit in what you are trying to do. Rather than use short-codes I'm using long-codes that are back-ended into the Twilio system so my calls cost just .01.

Mo, Again super work... Nice hearing from you and will be looking for your upcoming WSO. Will it be offered under your handle MoBuzz? Per previous comments... "Yes with any type of marketing having a good method of monitoring results is crucial. For sms it is simple, coupons are scanned to redeem and our software provides reporting." 1.) Can you share what scanning software you are using for the coupon redemption? 2.) Does it report back to your system via IP? 3.) Do you monitor the actual sale or just the opening of the coupon page? Thanx |

So Mo... is this Lime's software or some other? How does it track? as I have read that you cannot scan non-2D barcodes from a mobile phone. That would lead me to beleive the next best way is an integration with the POS system, however that is too complex. Can you provide more details on the software. Thanx... -Mark
