Would like some Feedback...

I have been giving some consideration to making some changes to my Company Reseller Program.

I would like some feedback from those of you who are either already in the industry participating in a Reseller Program or looking for one.

If you could provide some feedback on the following questions it would be appreciated.

Please pick one Answer from each Question:

1) What is most appealing in regards to pricing to you?

a) No Set Up cost and Higher Monthly Fee
b) Fair Set up cost and Lower Monthly Fee.

2) How important is to you to get comprehensive Training from your Provider?

a) Essential
b) Important
c) Doesnt Matter

3) If it was cheaper, would you be Okay operating under the Company Name of the Provider?

a) Yes
b) No

Lastly, What additional "Value Added Services" would you like to see provided as part of the Reseller Program? (Leads, CRM, Customer Service Hotline for your clients, Etc)

Your Input would be greatly appreciated....

I def think training is essential. Providing effective sales and marketing material combined with the training is the key. If you can do that the other 2 will not be an issue and everyone makes money.

p.s.
thanks for all the great post.. I have learned alot from the info you share on here

One of the challenges of providing training is many simply don't attend the training sessions. We have to make everything "at ones own speed". and then there is the issue of providing marketing collateral...its hard to create one size fits all collateral as not all colors will match the resellers look.

Yes I totally understand, that is why we decided to focus on hiring sales reps and training them as opposed to doing the reseller thing. I am providing them with a week of inside training and a week of outside training. Giving them 40% commission. With each rep having there own territory. That way if they quit after a couple months I retain the clients signed as well as the residual income. you are in Sac? I am not far from you, I was thinking about setting up a get together for mobile marketing companies in our area to kind of brainstorm network ect.. Would you be interested in that?

Thats a Definite Possibility! I'll PM you my contact Info

BTW...Be really careful about hiring 1099 reps...the IRS has changed the rules...thats why we moved away from that.

Hey thanks for the heads up, I do not know exactly how the 1099 process works as our accountant set it all up but I will def have her look into it to be sure we are covered.

FYI...Even Accountants don't know about all the changes that were made.

The Readers digest Version is...

1) There are now 20 Hotpoints that make an IC a W-2 employee

This includes if you have to train them...No Exceptions!

2) If the IRS decides to Reclassify your 1099 People as W-2 at Taxtime they are going to bill you for the TOTAL Unpaid Tax Bill...PLUS a fine of 35% of the Total

I don't know about you, but I'd prefer to not be on the receiving end of that one!

As far as added value, a monthly lead co-op would be beneficial to have a fixed cost and generate a few more leads.

Re: Would like some Feedback...

Hype... I would say offer both. Someone who is certain they are going to want to remain with you for the long haul would prefer a higher up front setup fee with lower monthly fees of course. Then if you have someone who is uncertain about the market, or uncertain of the benefits that you will provide them... well, they would rather pay no setup and a liitle more on the backend until they are sure they want to stay. The training aspect is difficult I'm sure because you are dealing with independent people whom usually think they know everything already... lol and have a tendency to want to do things their way. I think training could be good as an added benefit therefor people will more likely stick with your service rather than price shop all the time. I really think that if your providing more value than your competitors because of all the "little" things you do yourself, it would benefit you to have a very low cost trial period to capture new business.

Just my 2 cents,
Ed

p.s. And that's no Hype!

Mine is A,A,B

Higher residual income is primary to keep people motivated long after the initial sale.

As for training we do it through a set of training videos delivered over a period of time which we find works the best.

Re: Would like some Feedback...

First, I'd like to Thank everyone for their Feedback.

Here is what I am contemplating.

Leaving our Reseller Program as is...

Possibly offering a "Free Agency" Program that would allow people to get their feet wet and get some clients under their belt, at a slightly smaller commission rate than a Reseller, but still fair, say 30% commission on Monthly Plans.

All forms, collateral, Presentation Materials Provided, and the Agency operates under the HypeText Brand and then when they are ready to become a Reseller they keep their clients at the heightened commission structure.

Thoughts?

Re: Would like some Feedback...

Food for thought, what do they get for the 99 a month? how many text messages, how many keywords, lists, etc. what do extras cost them, how much per text message over what they get as a reseller, when they sell a package what does that cost them or what is their residual. Do they have a charge per active account or is that absorbed in the monthly reseller account or the packages they sell. Have you factored in your cost in choosing the residual rate. You don't want to end up in a position of owing more than the reseller is paying. I will be offering reseller options later but still factoring in costs so that it works for everyone.

Suzanne, just to be clear, the $99 is a Licensing Fee that enables the Reseller to Privately Brand the Platform with their Logo, gives them access to out Proprietary CRM, Gives them access to Training. It isnt for messages. Those are purchased as advertisers are boarded.

Costs per account are already factored into the pricing.

So to promote their business using text message marketing they would have to purchase a package in addition to the licensing fee?

The Reseller pays the licensing fee...the Advertisers they board are simply paying for their own account.

If the Reseller wanted their own Advertiser Account they would be free to purchase one.
