I want to tear up the local restaurant turf, and understand the basic concept of helping out restaurants. I could even sell them on the idea of it. My issue is the technicals of doing so. I know they can just collect numbers, and start sending, but to make the most out of it, how should I execute. Do I show them how to sign on to which ever service I choose online, or let them tell me what they want to send out when they want to send it out? Then if so, which service should I choose. Is there a service that allows me to have different logins for different customers and allow them to do what they need, or do I have to create an account for each client? I have a lot of basic questions that leave a cloud in the process I should execute, so if there is a WSO that can help or maybe a good post someone knows about, I would appreciate it. I have searched with little luck. |

I recommend using LimeCellular because, in my opinion, they have the best white label sms platform. So choosing them will make your sms marketing career easier. Register a domain name, build a small website, have /platform directory to install the white label platform, customize it, find clients, create accounts for them, give them login and password to your platform, let them know how it works, help them in their campaigns, get paid. No need for a WSO. |

SMS Wordpress would work great for restaurants. It can even be used as a paging system to let you know your table is ready.

Don't get stuck in the "i need a wso to show me" trap. People here will offer there advice at no cost. Most wso products show you one way to do things on the forum you will get many ideas

go to youtube.com and search for sms, there are a lot of videos that give the ins and outs. Also Lime Cellular has a bunch of videos that show their platform and how to use it.

There are several ways to attack the local restaurant market with Mobile Marketing. Short codes are most widely known - however, there can be issues getting the desired "keywords" for your clients , especially if using a shared short code. Long codes are not as widely known, but do have some advantages, mainly that the clients get a true local number (10 digits) that can be used for BOTH voice and text messaging. In addition, there are unlimited keywords available per local number. There have been several WSO featuring "wordpress" plugins that work well. One thing I have noticed is that most rely on the actual provider (you) to do most of the work for the client. |

I've heard if the text campaigns arent 'fully managed' they will most likely fall apart within a few months.... this means in particular NOT giving your clients access to the back end.... This makes a lot of sense.... the more you can keep clients out of the technical aspect of things the better... It makes YOU less valuable if you arent in control and they are just renting a platform from you. Having said that, the fully managed route definitely requires more time and man hours.... how do the experienced marketers here handle this? Are you at your clients' beck and call 24/7? Do you require they give you a days advance on a broadcast or something like that? Any really good solutions? Thanks!! |

I read that you only need to "fully manage" clients for the first 2-3 months. Basically just showing them how to use the platform and how they can use it to make more money. Once they know how to use it and are making lots of money from it, on their own. They will just keep sending you payments and it will be automated after that.

There are mobile platforms that provide long codes that use SMPP. The problems lies with the fact that carriers do not fully support them due to their artificial nature, so it is not best practice to be using them. Nonetheless, they still are effective due to them being local numbers, and that can attract the market more smoothly. However, one large flaw with long codes is them not being able to send more than 600 texts within an hour. Sure that may be sufficient for the typical restaurant, but what about bigger clients where 1000 is the quantity of texts per 1 blast -- you only send 600, and then wait one hour. So I guess it depends on your market choice. Or you can provide both long codes and short codes and cover all the bases. |

Some major carriers block all text with certain words in them, like reply stop to stop. So keep that in mind. We have ran a few test on open rates with long code vs short code and long codes seem to be tracking a much higher open rate, about 20%. We are working on split testing coupon redemption rate, I think it will show additional benefit to the long code due to the personal feel. Segment your list. Long codes cost $1 per month apposed to short codes which are $500 per month each. It is no big deal to just segment your database every 600 entries and switch to a new long code. (If you plan to do this and are using QR signups in printed material make sure you make a separate list for the QR that way they will not need changed." You could get a white label system like Lime, it is easier but I invested in WreckingBall SMS and do not regret it in any way. Then you own your own system and it has more features then any other system I have seen. March 28th will be the end of my first full year and we have already tipped into the 7 digit range. While we have many services now, they are all based around WBSMS. | |

SMS via Long Code Each Twilio SMS-enabled long code (regular 10 digit number) can send 1 SMS message per-second, per-number. Unfortunately we are not able to adjust this rate limit. If your application requires a high volume of outgoing SMS, we recommend using an SMS short code. That means 60 messages per minute, so 60X60= 3600 messages per hour. | |

Get a client and do it for free for awhile until you figure out what is the best solution for you. You don't need a WSO, you need a client. | |
