Iʻve been thinking about the best way to do this but do not know that much about SMS. Does anyone know the best way to set up a birthday list for a business? Is it even workable for the owner to manage it, or should the SMS marketer do it. Thanks! |

Personally I don't know of any particular software, etc but maybe you could modify an Appointment Reminder system/plugin. | |

Yes, automated text sent to a customer to wish them a happy birthday and give a discount coupon. How can that be set up? Thanks! |

If you use Twilio and OpenVBX then a plugin is available to do just this function. Overall, the whole thing is not a big deal. Just create a script o capture the month and day and then use the outbound scheduler.

After all I read hear about using twilio and openvbx, it seems like you can only make money if you don't account for all your programming time.

I set one up using OpenVBX awhile back and it didn't take that long, maybe an hour. Its not "programming" at all, just drag and drop basically. You'll need the subscription plugin. I created 12 separate lists (for each month), then when someone calls the number, they get a greeting that explains a little of the "club" and then tells them to press the number on their keypad that corresponds with their bday month. So press 1 for Jan, 2 for Feb, etc. They then get put on that month's list, and they get sent back a confirmation message letting them know they are in the club. For the current month, include the coupon in the auto reply. For every other month, send out a blast to that month's list with the coupon. I think this kind of thing works best as a call flow because you have more flexibility to explain how it works, etc. Probably easier to dial a phone number than to try to text a word to a number anyway. This is why I like OpenVBX and Twilio. So much flexibility to create this stuff. And I am NOT a programmer at all. |

Nice, I'm going to look into implementing birthday coupons in my service. I think that would put a smile on the face of potential clients.
