| http://www.gizmag.com/bluetooth-magn...m_medium=email http://mashable.com/2012/03/26/magnet-pizza/ I think This is an idea worth pursuing. Pizza shops provide free "Fridge Magnets" to their customers. Their customers place these free Fridge Magnets ON their fridge so that anytime they want a Pizza delivered to their home....they simply PRESS A BUTTON on the Fridge Magnet. Pretty cool! However....apparently this only works with "BlueTooth" users. However....what if I were to create a Mobile Website for a pizza shop and provide Fridge Magnets that are given to their customers to place ON their fridges? This Magnet would have a QR Code AND a url of the Mobile website so that even pizza customers who DON'T have a SmartPhone...could just type in the URL on a plain old cell phone and....Up Comes the Mobile Website of the pizza shop....so the customer can see the ENTIRE MENU? Does THIS have Merit? I think it does...and I'd like to hear your comments. Don Alm |

Sounds pretty nifty, but I like the bluetooth thing a lot. I see no reason to not put a QR code and a URL on the bluetooth dongle though.

I'm not familiar with "BlueTooth". Does this ONLY work for people who have "BlueTooths"? ....or...can it be rigged so even people with an ordinary cell phone can..."Press The Button" and have a pizza delivered? Don Alm |

Don - Bluetooth devices need to be "paired". Once this is done then they work together. Don't know if you have a hands free device for your cell phone as it is the same process. One device is put into a broadcast mode and the other device finds it. Quite often you then need to enter a code for security reasons. HTH |

Even most dumbphones have bluetooth. It's been around for a while. But from what I gathered, the dongle sends the order via internet, so it would only work with phones with a data connection, which I still don't think is much of an issue because most people have smartphones now anyways.

The things is with most of us who buy pizza is that we simply dial on our mobile and they pick up who we are where we live etc. All I do is say what I want. Otherwise they do the same on their computer. I think this may be a little gimicky and if you want it send to a different address etc be pretty hard I think Q |

Interesting gimmick - but when it needs to be paired with a mobile phone to work, I don't see any major advantage over just calling the restaurant directly or ordering via sms - something Dominoes has offered for almost five years now Domino's Pizza delivers SMS ordering | CIO Insights | silicon.com I like the idea of the QR code on a magnet or flyer though and you could use that to start a discussion about how they could use a mobile website. |

I'm not a fan of bluetooth... I don't think it will be around much longer. It's pretty outdated technology really.

re: Quentin if you want to send it to different address then use the button at the address where the magnet is located |

Might be easier to just have an app icon (from their logo) available that goes to a mobile site for the pizza place. So rather than press the button on the fridge, they just press the icon on their phone. People have their phones with them all the time, they aren't near the fridge unless they are in the kitchen!
