Global SMS platforms?
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi All, I've been reading here for a couple of weeks now, and researching the mobile marketing for the right approach to take for me. There is a lot of gold information here, and i hope you can help me with the following:

As far as i can tell, Twilio, Limecellular, and other big (and small) players operate their SMS messages in the US, Canada, Australia and UK. Can anyone point me to a platform that operates globally? I'm particularity interested in setting up SMS plans in Israel.

Thank you!

Depends what you mean by operating globally.
Personally I have used Clickatell without a problem and they send to many countries - take a look at them to see if they can help. They have offices (virtual or not I am not sure) in the UK, US and South Africa.

I am also looking at Nexmo for an upcoming project due to their incredibly affordable virtual numbers (from 50 euro cents per month!). Their api looks spot on.

Like I said, depends what you mean by globally but those two companies may be a starting point for you.

Thanks, i checked them out and it seems like it's half the battle.
Both have outgoing SMS messages to my location, but neither have incoming message, nor a shortcode, which is a bummer

In that case, drop Nexmo an email - they are asking people what incoming locations they want added to the list next. They appear to add a couple new locations every other week.

May not work but its worth a try!

I use nexmo for my project, but do you know how they proceed ? what if I want to have my own SMS solution, without using Nexmo or Twillio API.

Thank you.

I feel like I just said this in another thread. All platforms are global, it dpends on if you get a shortcode to use with that platform and implement it. Don't get fooled for additional costs involved. I use galaxytext, go see if they can lease their platform out to you.

Had the same problem in the country we are working in. Could send through twilio etc but not receive or set up an autoresponder. We found a solution with Telerivet, we use local android phones with the telerivet app this connects to their site where we can set up auto replies etc. Also can intergrate with Twilio for sending only. Very pleased with it

Don't know if you've found your solution yet, but if not I would encourage you to check out txtwire. They are one of the largest providers in the US, and have brands like Wal-Mart as their clients, and I know they have very robust api's with a ton of options. I have previously asked if they can provide text messaging outside of the US as we were working on a project with potential both in the Scandinavian and the Middle-East markets, and they confirmed that they could provide what we needed.

I have a friend who uses global SMS strategy in mobile marketing. It’s actually the easiest way to reach the target clients and is also the fastest.

I can remember him mentioning Global SMS Gateway Solutions as the platform that has been helping him make his business cross the world through SMS. You might want to research about that.

Actually Twilio can send out SMS messages to around 200 countries and across 1000 global mobile carriers. Israel is one of those supported countries. These are the mobile carriers in Israel that are supported currently: Cellcom, Pelephone, Hot Mobile, Golan Telecom, and Orange.

Now, local number purchasing in Israel isn't available yet, but you can purchase a US or Canada number and these numbers can send/receive global SMS. We actually have a client that purchased our script that is using it in Israel. Our script is built on the Twilio framework currently, but have plans in the future to include a couple more SMS gateways to the mix.
