Hey quick question! So lets say I went to the local college got an opt-in list of 300+ students. I go to local businesses (mostly restaurants, head shops, and boutiques). I sell each business one blast per month at $200 per blast. The students redeem the coupon by responding to the blast with a short code. Now if the students are required to show the text to redeem it, how does the business owner make sure that the same coupon is not used twice? |

Why does it matter if they use it twice (or more)? Consumers using a coupon multiple times means they're spending money...multiple times. A coupon is useful (for the consumer) only if money is being spent. |

1. If those students are going back to use the same coupon you should look at that as a GOOD thing. Getting people back through the door is the best thing that can happen to a business. Your coupon should be an offer that is of value to the students but does not make you lose money. Do you see McDonalds limiting the number of soft serve cones you can buy? No, because they know it's a loss leader designed to get people through their door and buying more expensive items. 2. The simple solution to prevent most of this is to change the coupon code that gets sent out each week. Thus the students could only use the same coupon for a week at the most. You could even change it once every few days. Simple to do. You don't need to overcomplicate things. |
