Hello! I am new to this forum I am finding it extremely difficult to find a place I can ask questions specifically about mobile and acutally get an answer. I have asked several questions in a couple of places/people,including one site I have been on for years, but I get no responses to any of the questions anymore. Why, I dont know. I hope to get feedback here. I have huge gaps where I dont understand. 1 If i am running a running a mobile campaign, am I using single-landing pages or entire web sites? wjat else do you use to run campaigns? 2 Do I have to buy a domain name for every landing page I have? 3 Do most people use a dedicated server or a vps? why? |

Welcome to the Warrior forum Serious. It can be tough getting answers to questions sometimes. 1) What exactly do you mean by "running a mobile campaign"? 2) Landing pages sitting on weirdly names domains can be a problem. for example if you're trying to get people to sign up to your "how to stop drinking ebook giveaway and it's sitting on www. how to get free beer .com/howtostopdrinkingexcessively.html it can be a bit weird so I would think that a nicely worded domain name might help. It depend son how much money you have to spend sometimes. 3) A dedicated server allows you to host as many domains as you like and you have the whole server to yourself which means you don't have a heavily trafficked site sitting on the same server competing with your traffic for bandwidth out of the same network card. Having said that though these days most semi-dedicated sites can handle a fir bit of traffic so I'm guessing the expense of running your own dedicated server (as nice and luxurious as that is) is probably not required at this early stage. |

Hey I will give me best shot at it. 1. If i am running a running a mobile campaign, am I using single-landing pages or entire web sites? wjat else do you use to run campaigns? - You should be running a combination of Mobile landing pages as well as an entire site. The mobile landing page is where you want to direct traffic either through QR or SMS but once the user has hit the mobile landing page its always a good idea to have more mobile optimized content in the event they want to dig a bit deeper into the site. 2 Do I have to buy a domain name for every landing page I have? - This depends how you want to set up your landers. You can easily set up multiple landing pages with multiple domain names if the campaign calls for it. But just as easily you can run multiple landing pages and campaigns off of one domain names, so it really depends on the campaign. 3 Do most people use a dedicated server or a vps? why? -This question really comes down to your needs of the server. You can easily run a mobile site off cheaper shared hosting. A VPS is a good entry point option once shared hosting simply doesn't cut it. But it your hosting needs more power then a dedicated server is your best bet to give you the most power and control possible. |

Thanks so much for responding, guys! much appreciated! I guess i used the word mobile campaign wrong. now i am not sure what it means. I have not applied to any affiliate or ad networks yet. I hope to do that by next week. there are one or two sites, like offermobi, that have webinars I am going thru, but they take some time, I am trying to go thru at least 3 a day, sometimes repeating. I have to confess, I dont have a smartphone yet. I am relying on software to see how the pages look. so I dont know what people see in the address bar on smartphones when an ad shows on the screen. it appears people people pick a niche domain and use subdomains or pages question: Is a semi-dedicated server the same as a VPS, or is the first one a little bigger? Its would be a relief to know I dont have to start off with a dedicated server as my starting funds would go a little further with a VPS and I could switch later, I am thinking.

Dedicated server means you have full use of the server and no other customer shares this. Semi dedicated means that several customers share the same server. The number depends upon the hosting service but 6 is a good number. A VPS is a virtual account on one server or, in a cloud infrastructure, spread over several servers sharing RAM, CPU. Typically less powerful than semi dedicated but there are exceptions - you need to check the infrastructure provided by the hosting service. Speak to the hosting company before you purchase and check how they would support you migrating from VPS to Semi Dedicated to Dedicated as your business grows.

Thank you for that explanation! I think right now it would be more sensible for me to use a VPS since i dont yet know what i am doing. every dollar counts right now.
