Adding Simulator to Website Query

Some time ago I asked about the strange appearance of my mobile sites in Internet Explorer.

http://www.warriorforum.com/mobile-m...p-browser.html

The consensus was very definitely to ignore IE which is fine.

My question now is, Is it really possible to ignore IE if you're hosting a simulator on your website for potential customers to view some of your mobile designs?

What I mean is, the simulator will use the client's (customer's) browser to render the mobile site in the iframe and given the majority of users still use some version of IE you are going to have to ensure your sites appear properly in IE.

For my own sites it seems to be only the header/logo image which isn't appearing in IE. Simple enough fix.

Is there some way round having to add the code for various versions of IE?

What do you do?

am a big fan of user agent detection ...always have been

if your using PHP consider adding a conditional statement to your code that only triggers when IE is detected that way it only kicks in when people are viewing the content using IE browser and adds that fix when its needed

Re: Adding Simulator to Website Query

I think I may have the simplest solution to my query.

I've specified the header image/logo dimensions as percentages.

If I specify them as so many pixels I suspect IE will be ok.

Jay,

I know you were thinking about a user agent redirect script for html sites. Something along the lines of your impressive WP plugin. Is it a runner?
