| I was wondering if anyone knows of a Mobile Website Design program / software that will allow a user to easily enter information in a format simular to WYSIWYG – while still creating the php and other code in the background. I am looking for software that would allow me to do the following: 1). Add a logo to the site with a ‘Click to Call” hyperlink. 2). Easily add and arrange all Buttons on the Home Page into whatever order I wish. 3). Easily change the colour of the buttons and / or the background – using a colour picker. 4). Add a background image if I need too. 5). Easily add video, audio etc. 6). Add some kind of option for making an appointment – Dr Surgery, Chiropractor. 7). Easily add a gallery if I need one. 8). Easily add more than one location if I need to. 9). On the Contact Us Page – make the information in relation to the site owner (email info) easy to add. 10). Easily add a PayPal button and / or a Shopping cart to purchase goods. In addition to this, I would like to see changes to the WYSIWYG software information displayed on some kind of template while you are making changes to the site – sort of like a live view. Of course this software would need to be affordable and could used on my own server without additional monthly hosting fees… Is there anything else that you would like to see on software simular to this? Does anyone know of such an idiot proof system without the complicated code? Regards Dean. |

Dean, There are plenty of third party sites like that out there -- just search Google for things like 'Mobile Website builders' and the like. The problem is with almost all of those solutions is you are limited to what you can edit and change -- you can only change the sites so much. The beauty of learning to manipulate code directly is that you have way more possibilities as to how you can customize sites. |

wholeheartedly agree with this. Plus, you're not locked into having to pay those monthly fees.... you can have your clients pay you, and YOU get to keep it all, minus your hosting costs.

Most reputable mobile builders will do most of what you're looking for. Some builders will allow you to input custom html directly into the mobile site too, which is a big help.

I was the same as you - wary of all that "complicated" code, and was looking for the magic bullet you are looking for. In the end, I found that the code wasn't complicated at all, and to change things you just need to change the images and a tiny bit of code. Save and upload each change and refresh the actual site so that you can see that the changes you made give you what you want. For instance, no need to change the"tap to call" button (unless you want to change the colour, or if it has a number on the image), just change the telephone number in the code to the one you want. To change the logo, just swap the logo image in the images folder with your new one, of roughly the same dimensions. Just get a mobile template - I use Will's, Quentin's, Kevin Koop's, and now Neil B's. Any of them will make it easy for you. You are welcome to pm me if you want to ask me something. |
