I'm about to do an experiment with a new .mobi domain and see how different SEO is for mobile compared to display. My theory is that Google are falling over themselves to provide relevant mobile content to mobile searches and they will score the fact that it is a mobile site higher than pagerank / age / etc when providing results for mobile searches. I'm purposely not going to reveal the url here for a few weeks so as not to skew the results. Does anybody else have any experience of this? |

Wow this thread has been hijacked by spammers! @OP, @Nisha - good stuff nonetheless - just have to skim past the garbage posts... as for the separate domain - I don't think a ".mobi" will have a greater score than a "m." subdomain of the regular desktop site. I think the fact that you have a mobile-optimized site, as well as a properly built mobile sitemap, is enough for Google to reward you with higher rankings in mobile SERP's. |

I think you are right. The problem is that not many people have their desktop site optimized for mobile let alone optimized for seo. If I where anyone with a mobile site, I would look at history and begin optimizing my mobile site immediately. Score yourself a nice position for your keywords and bazinga! PM me your results, I am very keen to see them. Cheers see: http://www.warriorforum.com/mobile-m...ile-sites.html and http://www.seroundtable.com/google-m...seo-12995.html

Off Topic, however... We all can learn what NOT to do from "msmaryjones". 1. Spamming 2. TM violation against biggest Internet Co. (GOOGLE) and could cost this person huge fine, up to $100,000

We have had good experience with our sites with Mobile SEO that gets ranked differently then a desktop website. The key is to ensure there is a proper redirect so Google can know that a mobile site exists. We don't generally recommend setting up separate domain names such as .mobi just run off a sub domain such as m.yourdomainname.com. Be sure you have the ability to SEO your individual mobile pages.
