Quentin, Thanks for posting this. I have just flicked through the pdf you can download at the site - it is full of facts which will be very helpful. Whilst we know that mobile is growing and presents many opportunities to businesses the challenge often is convincing the business owner to take action. Quoting statistics from this sort of resource, published by Google, can help to win the argument. |

They promote their free (for a year) Dudamobile premium sites in Google's Mobile Playbook. I don't think that I want my customers to see that! Cato |

Yep, I actually have an inquiry into Dudamobile right now since I am a reseller with them. Since they have partnered with Google to use their framework, where does that leave the rest of us at the bargaining table if they are giving it all away for free?

A few questions... 1. Do you use free web hosting? There are plenty of free web hosting services out there, so why don't you use them? 2. Do you ever eat takeaway? You realize it would be much cheaper and healthier to make the same type of food at home. So why do you buy it? 3. Do you ever take your car to get washed? Why, when you can do it yourself for free? I could go on and on but I am sure you see the point. Why when people could easily buy a Wordpress theme and create their own website do they spend a thousand dollars to have a 'web developer' do it for them? My mate who recently opened a bar did that exact thing and when he showed me his new website I showed him the exact same Wordpress theme could be bought on ThemeForest for just $30. I could have made him this site for less than $50. But he paid some guy to do it for him. There's just no point debating something like this because it really is not an issue. Majority of the business owners you talk to will not have even heard of the term 'mobile website' let alone a place they can build them for free.

Thanks for posting this Quentin! I feel that Google is putting this out for many reasons including to promote their own service. They also need site owners to start catching up with the fast growing mobile web usage in order to provide good search results to their users. For once Google seems to need site owners lol. It looks like a great opportunity to get mobile site ranking as well if others aren't keep up with the trends and building the mobile optimized sites! |

I am in fact an action-taker and actively build my business daily. I am confident in my ability to help business owners visualize and achieve their goals. This in turn, is mutually beneficial both professionally and financially. Thank you for your comments WillR. I do appreciate them as well as your products. I just felt as though I needed to clarify my position and statements a little better. To speak a little further on Dudamobile, I do enjoy the ease of use with their platform and find it helpful when I am in front of a prospect that I have not had time to do my research on, to be able to render a quick mobile mockup of their website with the platform. This is not necessarily the end-result using Dudamobile, but more of a quick visual aid for the business owner to see his/her website in a similar fashion on a mobile device. Personally, once I get my foot in the door and we commit to the endeavor of building a mobile website, I often use other platforms to deliver the website, depending on their needs. If they want to pursue Mobile marketing with SMS, I incorporate the SignalHQ platform and build a solution from there. It all depends on the need of the customer. I would much rather take the time to capture their needs and deliver upon them than to spit out a "craptacular" mobile website for them in about five minutes that may or may not suit them. I do encourage anyone that is serious about mobile to use a blended approach to the technology and use it as needed. No two customers are alike in my experience. Well...that's enough ranting and blabbering for one evening. Thanks all

The idea of this post was not to use it for your customers but as a resource. I would never send this link directly to any customer but use some of the information and add Google as the source not the actual book. Excellent post Marty Q |
