Tracking software confusion
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

I was pretty closed to ordering this Vps preloaded with prosper202 software, but looking at the list of aff networks I am narrowing down, they all appear "tracking software".

You know when sometimes you are confused from something, but hope it will clear itself up as you learn more about it, but it doesnt, it only gets more confusing?
Well, I have to admit I am quite confused with this tracking software thing. I was told you need an Affiliate network, and Ad network and tracking software like prosper202 in between the affiliate and the ad networks, is that right?? . if the ad network does all of that mean I have to use 3 levels of tracking software???
i am LOST! I'm LOOOOOST! SO LOST! help!

Ad networks will provide tracking, yes, but the point is you want to have your own tracking because you will find a lot of the tracking provided by other companies is sometimes in their favor. You want to be sure the analytics they are giving you represent the real story.

Also, having prosper is useful if you are working with more than one network, so you can track everything from one place.

Thank you MotiveTeresa and WillR! That cleared my confusion up pretty quick.
prosper202 appears to be the only free tracking software, but i read somewhere they will start charging. When I get that cleared up I can make a decision.

Okay, I emailed prosper202 about their software and someone responded very quickly:

Thanks for for email. No we are not getting rid of the free version.

However we are spending all our time and resources on the paid one for the next few months. So it will be getting all the updates and improvements, especially on the mobile side.

Additionally of you need support directly from us the paid one is your best bet. Since free support is included.

I was going to say, they still do have a free version but they have also had a paid version for a long time as well. If you are just getting started then definitely try out the free version first before handing over any money.

The only real free tracking platform i know of is Bevo since prosper needs hosting.
As for getting started why spend the time on installing a script when you can just pump out tracking links now with bevo. Then scale up...

Tracking202 was a free service, the paid version you speak of was t202pro
then Shut Down was announced 10/31/11
But they just released the again with prosper202 1.8 into tracking202 paid. min monthly payment of $89...

Also there are way more features in bevomedia.

Why? Because a lot of the serious people using this type of tracking software want a self hosted solution they know they have complete control over. It's a lot better than a third party solution that could drop off the face of the earth whenever they want -- along with all the data you have built up over the years.

Don't say it doesn't happen because it does. Technology startups are coming and going like the tides.

thanks for posting, but I dont understand what you mean, prosper202 still has a free version because I just downloaded it. I will be using it on a dedi server
I have been trying to find out about bevo for some time now, but they have no contact info. but i have decided to just go ahead and sign up and see if i will be accepted. as long as they have a free part, (PPV SPY is 999 a year)its all a learning experience. however I will mainly focus on prosper202/dedicated server and see how it goes.

Sorry for making it confusing, Prosper202 is free to download yes.
but if you go to the facebook page, he has a paid version for the hosted version and its the prosper202 1.8 -- read here.
https://www.facebook.com/Tracking202...44522782267712

does that make senses? the 1.8 is not free.

I wasn't sure if you were going to get the Vps preloaded of prosper202.
that is why i pointed out other good trackers to consider.

And Willr i didn't want to cut in your opinion. but in my view the guys and gals that are worried about having their data stolen are the ones that dont have anything worth anything. I didn't like the fact that the t202 team did sell out, Wes was the main guy we all trusted.
I'm sure a lot of people were upset when stats junky left the face of the earth.. these guys had no contacts info...
