Help with Click-To-Call for mobile

Was not sure if I should post here or on the Offline section. I have a few sites for local businesses, with a plugin to make it look nice for mobile viewing (WPtouch).

I thought that you could put a button (Icon) on your (mobile) site and if the customer wanted to call you they just had to push the button (Icon) and it would automatically dial and connect them to the business.

I did some searching for click to call here and Google and Yahoo. found some businesses offering services like that but they did not specifically mention mobile phones as far as I could see, with a quick skimming.

Assuming it would be more than just a WP plugin... I know that Adwords offers that click to call function for ads.

Any enlightenment would be appreciated, with details.

A Click to Call link is very simple to create.

A standard text version would look like his:

<a href="tel:123-456-7890">Click to Call</a>

If you wanted to use an image for the button then it would look like this:

I was expecting auto-dial BUT this is still what i had spent, hmmm maybe a half hour looking for with the search engines and even typing it in WF search with no luck.

Todd,

I'm not sure you will find anything that autodials the number simply because there is too much room for abuse. This makes it drop dead simple for the customer whilst also not forcing them to do something they didn't want to. They must confirm the phone call before it dials.

No, you are right, loading the number up so they just have to push send/dial is perfect. I just need to get this up on 1500 pages between the sites! The WPtouch plugin just shows title and text of pages, so I cant put it in the header somewhere. I thought of customizing or having someone customize the theme just to add a little banner for this. Would seem like a good addition to this type of plugin.

I can't believe a mobile theme does not already give you that option. But yes, the beauty of Wordpress is you can generally just edit one file and make changes across all of your pages. Each theme is different though so make sure you get someone who knows what they are doing.
