Hello, I'm kind of new to this forum and industry as well. I see many of you talking about mobile sites CMS. I'm looking at a few choices but don't really know which one to choose. Just wondering how did you guys end up choosing the CMS that you are currently using.

We use both wordpress and joomla for our mobile sites, a lot of people say the code is bloated, they won't validate and performance is slow, but this really comes down to the end developer and the plugins they are using if you know what you are are doing none of those things should be an issue...

It really depends what you mean by CMS. The true meaning of the word CMS is Content Management System. These days however people seem to refer to a lot of these mobile website builders that allow you to choose colors, upload logos, etc etc as CMS systems... but a lot of them are not. A CMS in it's simplest form is a system that allows you or your client to control some or all of the content on your website. It doesn't necessarily have to allow any control over design or anything else to do with the website. I use a simple in house CMS solution that does just that. It only allows the client control over any of the content I decide to give them control over... and to avoid unnecessary headaches, that's the way it should be. If you ever set up a website or mobile website for a client using Wordpress as your CMS, I highly recommend you use one of the plugins that allow you to restrict which parts of the dashboard your customer has access to. The more access you give them the more likely they are to play around with things and hit you up with unnecessary questions. |

Yeah, what I meant was mobile website builders. But after looking around the forum I realize that many people refer to it as CMS, so perhaps my question wasn't clear. What I'm asking for is mobile website builders. I do not have a strong programming background but I see opportunities in the mobile sites industry. So I'm thinking if I could choose a good mobile site builder, it can help me earn some extra cash

do yourself a favor and buy BOTH WillR's AND Quentins. Super simple to use, great support, and tons of extras. Both are very knowledgeable and are highly regarded here on the forums.

I'm not sure of the exact names of them but there are a number of plugins out there that will allow you to restrict what options a certain user has. So they can edit the content of the site but none of the main settings.
