I've used QR codes in a couple small advertising projects I worked on very recently. Still to early to tell if it's going to be good for generating traffic. But the mobile market is so huge and growing from a marketing standpoint.

I wish I understood QR codes better. I did actually use one recently on my iPhone, though. So I kind of get the idea, but I am not sure how these benefit businesses, exactly.

Put a QR code on your business card. Your clients don't have to remember you site address. From Sam Harris |

I consult small businesses and marketing agencies daily on the best way to use QR codes. If you do have clients using QR codes, please be sure they are using it wisely. The QR code should have a purpose "Scan for coupon" or "scan to watch the how to assemble video" etc... Ask yourself, if someone scans your QR code, what do you want from them? If its just another visitor to your site, sure, link to your site, but you wont see anyone calling to action. Be direct, and be clear when using QR codes in marketing campaigns. What kind of tools do you have in building apps? Do you track scans of QR codes?

If you are using QR codes on business cards then it would be a bit of a waste just sending people to a URL. A QR code can also store a contact card meaning someone can scan the QR code on your business card and it will then save your full contact details to their phone... your phone numbers, email address, url, etc, etc.
