I have been looking around for some more info on this product which was launched around Spring this year. Essentially it can forward SMS messages with no recurring send costs. I would be grateful if anyone can shed any light on it, if you have used it, know any information, people behind it etc. The link is below in case you are unsure of it. Auto SMS System Blog |

I would stay far away from that product. Scraping cell phone numbers and sending a SMTP message is SPAM and you will be fined heavily if caught.

Thanks for your comments but I should have been clearer, I was specifically referring to is it possible to send mass SMS messages with no send costs? If so, how? Logically it does seem possible but you can never discard anything.... |

Sorry for misunderstanding you. They are sending the messages using SMTP. I think it showed it in the video. Phone# @ vtext.com for Verizon Wireless Phone# @ @txt.att.net for ATT Wireless etc... |

Let's get clear on what spam is...sending email or text messages without the receive requesting or opting in is spam. If you register at my website or text a keyword to a number, you are asking to receive email or texts. Whether I do it through sms or mms (smtp protocol) is irrelevant. If you requested to be on my list and you can opt out anytime, it is not spam. Of course the text companies and organizations are going to criticize this but it is still not spam and not illegal. I've utilized both sms and mms for 3 years now and have not had "1" problem. UPDATE: I did review the system listed above and they are definitely scraping phone numbers and not looking for legitimate opt in customers. I do not approve of this type of marketing. |
