Mobile Website for Hotels
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

I have been sending videos out to the travel industry showing what their site looks like on a phone and also finding a competitor's mobile site. I am sparking quite a bit of interest and have planned on selling them a 5 page site for $397-$497. I have not planned on doing any online booking from the mobile site as I have no idea where to go for that.

I just received an email back from a guy that is interested, but wants to integrate his online booking on the mobile site. He asked for a quote and examples (I have none for the hotel industry).

Anyone have any tips on this? Anyone know who could supply this?

Thanks again for any/all help.

You're lucky because I tried to get hotel owners and none were interested probably because they are big INTL hotels (sheraton....) even some small hotels were not interested.
So I said good bye to hotels as niche 4 mobile.

integration of online booking like RESA for europe is not ease at all, also it requires ssl.
It's not impossible, try to meet with the hotel booking industry.
Good luck.

Integration with hotel online booking requires much efforts.

First, you need to know the hotel reservation system, whether it is built in-house or based on commercial system. If it is built in-house, you need to ask for the system's documentation from their side. If it is built based on commercial script, you can get the code documentation from the company that sell the script.

Second, I assume that you are not a programmer. Then you need to outsource this thing. Give your freelancer the documentation of the system. They need this because this define how the http request should be made, etc. Also give them the specifications of the job.

Third, building dynamic website for mobile is the same in the server side (database, backend), but need simpler user-interface in the front side. So you gonna need a web designer for that.

The Combined Hotels affiliate program allows you to create a mobile version to book hotels. It is under their white label program. They are free to join. I found this out from sites on Flippa. The travel market is saturated with so many booking websites that it is not even funny. That is probably why you are not able to sell to them.

I have been in the hotel indusrty last 7 years here in the houston area. I have worked with indpendent hotels and franchise hotels. I know over a 50 hotel owners in the houston and texas area. One problem is that Expedia,hotels.com, prbitz take a big chunk out of their profits when they book through them. Example if you found a room for 50.00 online through expedia they would only pay the hotel 40.00 bucks. So you can show the value of saving them money when they tell there customers book directly through the mobile website. If anyone wants to partner up i can get the hotel owners i just need some to be able to make the mobile website and find a way to book hotels room through there mobile website and get sent directly to there computer.

Do you know what kind of online booking he has going on, is it a script of their own, (inhouse coded?) or is a third party script...

If he has the online booking system on his normal website try to see in the source code if you can discover the code used for his online booking system and see if you can fit that into your mobile design.

I have done this a view times and sometimes i just got lucky, other times i had to edit the code to make it fit... but generally,if the hotel has the online booking working on its normal website you should be able to get it to work on your mobile site. often it is just cope/paste of some code.

If you don't have the techical knowledge you can find people on scriptlance, elance, odesk but scriptlance is probably the best choice as they have a lot of programmers. Do a couple searches on their site and you will probably find people who have already done work in this niche

Mobile Tagging: 2D Barcode Web Applications

It has a reservation system for mobile - could possibly be adapted for hotels.

Dave Offen ran a WSO on it a while back - it's closed now but might be worth contacting him.

I use the Hotels.com affiliate program as they are "Mobile Friendly". There are simply too many fish in the sea and these types of sales take too much time, money and effort so I avoid, just me and just sayin! --Dennis

I'll build mobile apps for your hotels. An app at the same price as a mobile website. Or build you an app that would be geared towards showing a list of hotels closest to the users current location. -Cory
