Is anyone selling 1 or more mobile websites per day?

I would like to move beyond the theory and anecdotes and hear if there is anyone here consistently selling 1 or more mobile websites per day.

Is having a goal of selling one mobile website per day, using whatever prospecting method you choose, an attainable goal? If anyone is actually attaining it already, how are you doing it?

We sell more than one a day and we do it by holding small 1 hour seminars during the day and at night where we invite 25 or so businesses to a small presentation.

Thanks Quentin - that's a great suggestion. And I know you're actually DOING this, unlike a lot of the other people who are promoting this or selling the next big thing as an affiliate link.

I mainly wanted to see if a goal (eventually) of selling 1 mobile site a day is realistic. I will start with, say, 1 a week as a goal, and hone what I do so that I can do it well. Thank you for your input!

Yes Quentin is right, that's how GOMO are doing with duda, you can go and see your local chamber of commerce, submit your request to invite business owners for a free seminar about going mobile, you will need to cash out for it with some snacks and drinks but overall it can be very lucrative. Before doing this you really need to be a business authority (an expert on your field) of partnet with someone who have authority in business or they will ignore your request.

To sell more than 1 per day you will have to go nationwide using advertising PPC, banners...
You can sell more than 1 on a local market from my experience but will be like a roller coaster, up and down. Your reallly need to be a well known webdesign company in your town in order to get business owners to sign a contract.

Am I doing more than 1 a day now? To be honest, not anymore but I plan to launch a new business plan that will probably be positive.

Automated is the Word, because many mobile marketers aren't aware of what could be +1 mobile site a day is, they fail to delivery and could be negative for their business. Think Groupon business advertisers, I'm sure you heard about horror stories!

Because everyone here is claiming since a year now that mobile website is the money making business, the market is a bit saturate by mobile marketers, many businesses I've visit, told me they already have been contacted (email, cold call, walk in store...) by several companies, I was the x one. Also some aren't interested or are still undecided.

To get out on the crowd, you really need to be niche and unique with your mobile site.
That's what I've did recently and have copyright protected on my work.

To improve your mobile websites sale you need to have more and better leads. Try Linkedin and salesforce platforms to generate leads, you will easily achieve your target.

Oh no, not Linked in, I saw many members in several groups complaining about spam coming from lead generator software. If you want to get banned, it's your problem.

Personally, I won't do it for that low price!

1 a day is not an impossible goal. But dont sell mobile sites. Help them see mobile marketing as a solution for a certain problem they face. Best is to tackle by branche/niche were they have specific needs. Try to visualize how mobile marketing can help them with those needs. They do need a mobile website for it tho

For example: Let them know that with SMS listbuilding and marketing you can fill in "slow" days even at the day itself with a good offer. And dont forget to tell them that SMS gets read above 90% against the 2-3% for email. And also don't forget to tell how a QR code can make a personal ad can come "alive and kickin". If they have a mobile landingpage that is

I love this. Currently I'm taking a public speaking course hoping to improve my presentation skills. I think teaching people something is the best way to get them as clients. Think of how big webinars are right now! They are huge and what do they do at the end, sell you something.

Another suggestion is to pair it up with something. I'm working on a package that optimizes a Google Local page and included is a mobile website.

Quentin, can I ask, where do you hold the seminars? In your own office? My husband (biz partner) and I have held several workshops/seminars locally as well for the Chamber of Commerce, a Tourism Assn and a Builders Assn, and always get sales from them so I know it works.

We'd be happy to do one seminar a week but not sure where to hold them?? Many chambers of commerce seem to favor their own members rather than outsiders coming in.

How are you currently getting your 10 a month? That's a great number by the way. My original goal was 1 a week.

Your local Library is a good place to hold meetings. Here the cost is $10 per hour. They will also promote your seminar. The meeting rooms are nice and they allow you to bring in refreshments.

Wow - at that rate, I'd rather sell one $495 website a week than 99 $5 sites. They're seriously selling themselves short there, but I may have to buy to check out their work.

More then 1 a day is very achievable but depends how you are prospecting and setting up appointments.

We have found that works best is to set up meetings in a certain part of the city for a particular day then have face to face meetings with a number of prospects. Having a demo site on hand to show the prospect always helps them understand why they need a mobile site.

So yes selling more then 1 mobile site a day is very attainable as long as you are good at sales and hungry to hustle and hit the streets.

I like this idea and didn't know they will help market your seminar. Spend 10 bucks and bring some donuts, coffee and water. Nothing makes people happier then food.

Pick up the phone and sell it as the solution to a problem (people can't view your site from their mobile correctly) and selling 1 a day will be easy after a few weeks/months.

lint631, You will still have to do your own promotion for your seminar. They will just list it as an upcoming seminar on their bulletin board or newsletter or whatever your particular library offers. Still it's a good deal. The libraries are easy to find, plenty of parking and there is an implied endorsement in people's mind because it's held at the Library.

Does your company focus solely on mobile sites or do you also offer regular sites?

Also, when you run across businesses that are interested in your mobile sites, how do you overcome the obstacle of the original web designers not cooperating with you (providing the ftp lo-gin information) or who try to steal the business by telling their customers that they can build the same thing?

What EXACTLY have you done the last four days to sell a mobile site?

How many businesses did you contact? Which businesses were they? What did you say to these businesses?

The most I've sold is 3 in one day and that was just by picking up the phone and calling businesses (who were already advertising) to simply tell them that their current site looks great on a normal computer but not too good on a mobile phone and if they wanted me to send them a sample of what it could look like I could do that by the end of business (as an SMS directly to their phone).

I'd call them up about 10 minutes after the SMS and ask them if they liked it? If they said yes I'd simply ask them in a friendly manner if they'd like me to create a full mobile friendly site based off their current site. If they say yes I'd tell them the price and and they would either say go ahead or some variant of "no". No stress, no fuss. I sold over 6k worth last month. When that runs out I'll do it again.

Mr Bill I accomplished the same, 3 in one day. And the best way I found was to actually just go into the businesses. I found I was pretty useless on the phone haha, more of a face to face person. I walked into a local hairdressers and asked to get my hair cut...while sat there i tried to load up there page on my mobile. I sold the benefits there and then and netted £197.

I did this for a while a few years ago. The biggest mistake I made was selling them for just a one off fee. I then started to include a low hosting fee, now I just have two mobile building sites for only a monthly fee. And I get most my clients from PPC.

If I had only done the monthly fee from the beggining:rolleyes:

I'm not a fan of monthly hosting fees as a chain. There are too small and the clients expect too much. I prefer referalls for updates. I always ask for a referral. I offer a small monthly update for each referral and I tell them if they refer 5 paying clients for a full websuite I'll give them free updates for 1,000 years. That usually gets a laugh and a laugh equals a locked in sale more often than not.

haha thats great. I can understand why you don't like it it seems your doing well with the one off fee's, time got an issue for me so its good to have a site running in the background. If I were to do this method full time again, your referral plan sounds great. Do you offer any up-sells? or just stick focused on the sites themselves?

I must admit I like Quentin's seminar method, that could lead to a lot of referrals also

I'll always look for a way to compliment them on their current website and will make a mention that they don't need too much upgrading in that area. I find that people hate being told that their current website sucks. It's put you offside immediately and the sale is usually lost. I don't make a big song and dance and try to stick to the positives. If I feel they are unhappy with their current website though I'll suggest a special deal for a "websuite" which is my term for a matching mobile and full site (you heard it here first).

I try to throw in as many freebies as possible (such as QR codes, installation, redirect script, ringing their old server techs myself...etc) but I make sure they know I'm doing it. I always say "no extra charge - because you laugh at my jokes when you don't have to and I appreciate that". More laughter - more sales. I'm the lowest pressure "salesman" around - that's for sure. If they say no, I never push the issue, I always say "fine".

True true. You will never get off on the right foot if the first thing you do is to knock their current website. You can still point out problems (if there are any) without sounding like a jerk.

Sometimes I use colloquial terms like "I could probably hot it up a bit". I find that people's distaste of salesmen works perfectly with my distaste of "selling". I prefer to help people for a fee than "selling" them on stuff. It would appear they can feel that and we all get along just fine. I'm brutal on people who hesitate or say "no" though. I just say "fine" and move on. There are plenty of people out there who do want help.

Share on: The most I've sold is 3 in one day and that was just by picking up the phone and calling businesses (who were already advertising) to simply tell them that their current site looks great on a normal computer but not too good on a mobile phone and if they wanted me to send them a sample of what it could look like I could do that by the end of business (as an SMS directly to their phone). I'd call them up about 10 minutes after the SMS and ask them if they liked it? If they said yes I'd simply ask them in a friendly manner if they'd like me to create a full mobile friendly site based off their current site. If they say yes I'd tell them the price and and they would either say go ahead or some variant of "no". No stress, no fuss. I sold over 6k worth last month. When that runs out I'll do it again.

Share on: Mr Bill I accomplished the same, 3 in one day. And the best way I found was to actually just go into the businesses. I found I was pretty useless on the phone haha, more of a face to face person. I walked into a local hairdressers and asked to get my hair cut...while sat there i tried to load up there page on my mobile. I sold the benefits there and then and netted £197. I did this for a while a few years ago. The biggest mistake I made was selling them for just a one off fee. I then started to include a low hosting fee, now I just have two mobile building sites for only a monthly fee. And I get most my clients from PPC. If I had only done the monthly fee from the beggining:rolleyes:

Share on: I'm not a fan of monthly hosting fees as a chain. There are too small and the clients expect too much. I prefer referalls for updates. I always ask for a referral. I offer a small monthly update for each referral and I tell them if they refer 5 paying clients for a full websuite I'll give them free updates for 1,000 years. That usually gets a laugh and a laugh equals a locked in sale more often than not.

I can understand why you don't like it it seems your doing well with the one off fee's, time got an issue for me so its good to have a site running in the background. If I were to do this method full time again, your referral plan sounds great. Do you offer any up-sells? or just stick focused on the sites themselves? I must admit I like Quentin's seminar method, that could lead to a lot of referrals also

Share on: I'll always look for a way to compliment them on their current website and will make a mention that they don't need too much upgrading in that area. I find that people hate being told that their current website sucks. It's put you offside immediately and the sale is usually lost. I don't make a big song and dance and try to stick to the positives. If I feel they are unhappy with their current website though I'll suggest a special deal for a "websuite" which is my term for a matching mobile and full site (you heard it here first). I try to throw in as many freebies as possible (such as QR codes, installation, redirect script, ringing their old server techs myself...etc) but I make sure they know I'm doing it. I always say "no extra charge - because you laugh at my jokes when you don't have to and I appreciate that". More laughter - more sales. I'm the lowest pressure "salesman" around - that's for sure. If they say no, I never push the issue, I always say "fine".

Share on: Sometimes I use colloquial terms like "I could probably hot it up a bit". I find that people's distaste of salesmen works perfectly with my distaste of "selling". I prefer to help people for a fee than "selling" them on stuff. It would appear they can feel that and we all get along just fine. I'm brutal on people who hesitate or say "no" though. I just say "fine" and move on. There are plenty of people out there who do want help.
