Mobile website is not showing up after the mobile script
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

I implemented the mobile redirection script on my client's site. The only problem is that I can't visit the website, and all I get is this http://http:// on my iPod. However, when I go to the website on iPhone 3G/4G tester - online website test emulator with flip It just goes straight to the original website.

Would someone please assist me? I used WIllRs mobile templates.

If you could paste the URL of the Main Site, that would allow me to test the redirect on my end. If you need to keep the URL private, I completely understand.

Just know that iPhoneTester.com is not really a great way to test the redirect. It is simply an emulator, and draws the Main Site content into the iFrame on its site.

If the redirect is setup properly on the Main Site, your iPhone should get redirect to the mobile site's url. If it's not working, I'd recommend you recheck your installation, as something may be wrong. (though it's impossible for me to tell you what that might be)

You can do a better test with a desktop machine, so long as you can override the User Agent with your browser. I use and recommend Google Chrome for this.

If using Chrome (a new version), here's how it is done...

[a] Hit Shift+Ctrl+J (on a PC) when viewing the Main Site. This brings up the Developer Tools window.

[b] Next, you click the "gear icon" in the bottom-right of the screen.

[c] The step above opens the "Settings" panel. With it open, tick the box to override the User Agent, then choose a mobile device, like an iPhone, from the drop down menu.

[d] Reload the page in your browser

That's it!

You should now see the mobile site in your browser's window.

EDIT: If you see my post twice, I apologize. The forum seems to be acting wacky... the first time I posted it showed up, then quickly disappeared.
