Hey Warriors, I just thought I would share this little story with you guys... My wife and I took the kids to a new frozen yogurt place while we were visiting relatives earlier this week. Man, that yogurt was good! Triple chocolate thin mint.... Anyway, we were heading out the door and I asked the owner if they used text message marketing. He said no but they had thought about it and I asked him if I could come by and talk to him about it in more detail. He said sure! The following morning, I showed up with my ROI calculator (built into Lime) and run some very conservative numbers. I signed him up! Walked out the door with $194 check! The point of the story is don't be afraid to talk to business owners. I had no intention of going in to pitch mobile marketing. It was just a casual outing with the family. So always be willing to talk to owners about your business! Tommy |

That is true...Most people forget that organizations owners are business men. business owners are the knight of our time. Present to them a way to make more money and you get a deal. When you want things to be done quickly, it's always better to talk to the person that is signing the check:-) |

As we always tell our members, if you aren't speaking to the business owner you're most likely wasting your time.

I couldn't agree more with this post! I would also add that you should ALWAYS have your business cards on you. I have acquired many new off-line clients this way, no pre-planning, just be aware of your surroundings, and talk to people, simple as that. If you do offline marketing consulting, or SEO work, as an example, when an electrician comes to your house to fix your whatever, ask them before they leave if they have an SEO consultant they work with, and are they happy with their results? Just an example. Could be any kind of contractor, could be a realtor that you are chatting with, whatever. The point is, keep your eyes open, and your lips moving. Talk to people! And reap the benefits! |

Awesome dude. I pitched a guy who runs a yogurt shop too, but I didn't use an ROI calculator. Next time I see him I'll do that.

I live in an incredibly small town (pop. < 1000) and my boyfriend and I have been considering offering our website design/SEO services to local businesses like coffee shops and restaurants, and this post is definitely making me consider putting together a report for them on how we think our services would help them. I think it's nice that since my town is so small, I know most of the business owners personally. Thank you for posting this, I think this is gonna be our motivation to actually do it. ![]() |

Agree with you, whenever I am out at some restaurant or other small store I always checks out their billing platform if I makes some purchase. I use to talk with them regarding what better they can have and the benefits of what I offer. Many of the time we use to fix a meeting and out of that I cracks some deal. It is good to talk to people about business. |

the key to success is to talk to people who decide, who really are responsible for decisions. Not only business owners have that responsibility in their companies.

Great post, as much as the internet connects us, it seems that offline business owners have an aversion to buying anything without face-to-face contact!

This is great stuff. This is why I love offline marketing - the ability to network with human beings, and find clients in chance meetings like this. Your buying the frozen yogurt off him has probably added thousands to his turnover, ultimately - and hundreds to yours. Thanks for sharing. | |

Nice! Great story. I feel that a business owners guard is down more when you're using their service or buying their product. Get a stack of 1000 business cards (nice 16pt thick stock) from GotPrint and always have a few in your pocket. It's a $15 investment that will at least make a few sales. |
