I am thinking about running a direct mail campaign to 500 businesses in my local area for a mobile directory- any thoughts about this? I have never done a direct mail campaign for mobile marketing |

This was a few years ago before mobile, but I created a business directory for car dealers and offered a free listing via direct mail. List was purchased through the printing/mailing co and tested about 600 oversized postcards. Granted that wasn't a huge test, but I think we had ONE signup and got a couple dozen post cards returned - so I assumed the list I bought was crap and we didn't try that again. I do think a local directory (mobile or not) can do well as a lead in to other services and once you get traffic you can charge for listings and advertising - but I think it requires more of a personal sales approach. Or a great list with a great direct mail piece ;-) |

Direct mails are one of the best way to contact businesses but while composing your mails check for "can spam" act so you can reach maximum of your lead's inbox. Another thing, maintain a list of blacklisted users (those who do not wish to receive you mails) and remove them from recipient's list. | |
