I am looking for any Recurring billing management vendor recommendations
 

I am in the process of setting up an automated recurring billing program to handle the payments for hosting of my mobile web business clients.

I am looking for any recommendations or advice regarding vendors from anyone who has done this. Any advice or help is appreciated, thanks.

If you become a reseller for either Lime or Avid they do have a billing system at the mid level plan.

If you're looking for a serious recurring payment gateway, look into Beanstream.

I use them for credit card processing and billing along side freshbooks.

Again, I run a proper business that isn't accepting paypal to my personal bank.. I have a business bank account that this is tied to.

I'm looking for anyone who has info regarding authorize.net vs. payflow.

Pros and cons of each. There's not too many alternatives...

I was going to go with Authorize.net but the costs involved were too high. Both the setup fees and the monthly fees were silly. I'm not sure about payflow as I didnt look into them.

Telling you, look into beanstream. Many small businesses use them.

Stripe offers a subscription-based billing option. I'm leaning towards using that for my current project.

Using PayPal and having a business bank account are not mutually exclusive. I've had a PayPal account tied to a business bank account for several years and have actually found that customers appreciate the option to use PayPal — it provides them with a trusted platform to process their payments. Especially if customers already have and actively use PayPal, they may prefer to pay using their account's funds.

Now, don't get me started on the customer service of PayPal... that's a whole different thread altogether.

I use paypal, and then have automated billing membership script that handles everything. It is much easier than getting seperate merchant accounts.

I have paypal setup as well. If my client chooses to pay with that, or their CC then its up to them, the options are there.

I've been trying to distance myself from paypal recently though, starting to get tired of their crap.

Same here. I find that clients are familiar with paypal and trust it. I once looked into ACH and Credit Card Merchant Account Processing for Small Businesses and they seemed like they had a solid service but never went with them. I still might in the future.

My vote goes to WHMCS.COM - its extremely versatile, we have two installations that manages our recurring billing for hosting, SMS services, domain renewals, seo and social media services as well for generating quotes, invoices for print and design projects and managing our product licensing! Like I said its very versatile!

You can configure it to disable people's accounts and even auto terminate for non payment, you can set it up to add late fees, pro-rata payments, not to mention it works with a crazy number of payment gateways, we currently use it with PayPal, PayPal pro, google checkout and soon 2checkout.

It comes with an awesome support desk. Customer invoicing. We have a number of addons that just streamline the whole thing ie mobile integration (admin apps for droid and iPhone), liscense key management and live chat...

Have been using it approximately 5years I can't think of anything that comes close to it... Setup maybe a little overwhelming but once you get used to it you will see why it's been one of our best finds/investments. It lets you continue on with running your business whilst handling all your billing and invoicing on auto pilot.

If I am not mistaken it comes free with business hosting plans at hostgator - we pay whmcs direct as I prefer dealing their support and also hope our payments help the continued development :)

Freshbooks has worked great for me. It's simply, it integrates nicely with authorize.net and paypal and allows your clients to pay by check.

Another great invoicing tool that integrates with Paypal is Invoiceable (formerly Invoice Bubble). The best part is it's free! They do have a paid version but I've been using the free version for over a year.

when set up correctly authorize.net is only $15/month plus the fee for reoccurring billing. Then there are other options you can opt out of.

When mine was set up I do not think there was a set up fee so it depends on who is setting it up for you. You can do it yourself or your merchant account can do it.

I just say this because many people have $60 plus a month in fees from authorize simply because they have all the boxes checked when they set it up for options they do not need.
