Sure it can be worthwhile. Helping restaurants and pubs generate more business from SMS marketing can lead to a host of other things. Show them the benefits, put something together for them and get it going. If you can generate more business for them, you'll be the guru for everything else.

Yes it can be very worthwhile. You can incorporate sms into their current advertising and instantly make what they are doing more powerful. Help them create a VIP Text Club. You can create a a master sms list in your area and show prospects instant results. You are only limited by your creativity.

Ofcourse it could be worthwhile... not sure what the person is post #2 is talking about. Create a VIP type club and market to their current customers to get them back in the door over and over again. The best list to build is a list of buyers.

The hardest part would be getting the phone number and consent of the people you want to send the messages to.
I suppose haveing a QRcode on everything in the club like beer mats, staff t-shirts, posters, napkins, menus etc.. would help get this but it would then start to evolve into a full blown advertising and promotion campaign.

Nice if you could pull it off.

Can you get a business to pay you an amount worth your time to do this? Likely yes unless your time is worth a whole lot and in that case you would have employees handle the "work".

Is it worth it to the bar to send out a text on a friday afternoon advertising a drink special to the college kids? of course it is. Now all you have to do is explain point two here to the bar to get them onboard with point number one above.
