Google play is a website, not software. Downloading the software to make Android apps from Google is the starting point, but it does not give you an app out of the bag; you have to know how to code or at least know what you're doing with it. I think there is App Inventor for Google and some other rapid development ones out there. Ask yourself what is it that I'm trying to achieve. Then ask how you will solve this. Is it something that can be quickly prototyped on paper? Is it something you can test "in a lab"? Is it something that can be made with the multiple of "app generators" and is that the best solution for the problem you are solving? Is it better/cheaper/faster to outsource it? Is making apps something you personally want to do as a career choice? All these things would help. I would do research on Google android development and go from there |

You can pick up dirt cheap second hand android phones on eBay. That's what I did when I needed to test mobile websites I was building for Android users.

Hey royalgalaxy Firs you need to have a nice concept for your app else it will get lost in play store, secondly you need android developer kit or you may try some online apps building service. You do not need an Android phone to develop an app, you will need it to test your app. Try buying a cheap android phone online (as WillR suggested) or you can even try online apps testing tools. They will allow you to test you app on different android phone screen size and compatibility. |

In my experience, I use Mobile Simulator to test mobile sites and app. But having your own iPhone or android is definitely helpful since you can see it in its actual form.

Blog Entries: 163 | Use Mobile Simulator – a computer app which creates a virtual machine version of a mobile device on the computer. Sometimes it is also called Emulator. Mobile simulator allows to use features and run applications on the virtual mobile on their computer as though it was an actual mobile device. But if you plan to work in app development field, you should consider buying an Android device. |

Hi You can now use your PC and a new tyest program called the Blustacks app player to check your developed android app. Now if you want to know how to upload your app in Google play, then here are some quick tips for you. * At first do register for Google play in the site of Google play publisher. * Once you are done with the registration, you can do with the uploading of your Andorid package file or APK, which is emailed to you soon after you finish with a successful android app development. Along with the APK, you will need to upload a high resolution application icon. And all these uploads you can do once you log in to your Google play account and click on the "Upload Application" button. * You will also require to puit the listing details which your end user may see when they check out your android app in Google play. * Once you are done with all these, you can publish by clicking Publish button Hope this must have helped you |

When you install the Android SDK there is an Android emulator with it. You setup virtual devices and can have many different specifications for each virtual device.
