I guess we all facing with this challenge: explain why a business owner should have a Mobile Site? and what are the benefits and value to them? I'm curious to know what are your answers and how you bring the real values for the business owners on the table... Thanks to share Mikael |

Smart phone users are increasing day by day and searches for businesses will be through mobiles rather than computers in the near future. So it's like having a traditional website is not enough to get customers

at face value, it helps make it easier for someone on their phone to contact that business through their website. this improves the customers, or potential customers experience with their site/brand. you know that frustrated feeling you get when something is a pain in the ass to use? you don't want your customers feeling that when they visit your site on a mobile. another benefit to a small business of having a mobile website is basically to keep up with the times, as more and more people are looking for products and services on their phone, a smart biz owner should want to make it as easy as possible for customers to find them, contact them, and then ultimately do business with them. also, it can be used as part of a bigger overall mobile marketing strategy for a business, which includes using qr codes to drive traffic to the mobile site, sms marketing. local seo, etc. not having a mobile friendly site is like not having a website a few years ago, and before that, not being listed in the yellow pages. if you don't stand out, you won't be seen. the way people find information these days is more and more via mobile and as a business owner you want to be visible where all the eyeballs are looking. hope that makes sense...

Very easy question and here is my answer: I can get as many clients (business owners) as I want as far as I'm not lazy! Yesterday or almost every time I want to have a new client for a mobile site, I do one thing and is so effective that they say wow! but : 1- don't contact me because their business is not wealthy enough to pay my services 2- too wealthy that they think they don't need extra fees to pay 3- contact me and get a mobile website So do you see I have 3 options. But how do I do? Well it's simple and easy. 1- Have a smartphone with a 3G Go shopping like you usually do, if you go to your haircut, dentist, preferred shop... it ease process. do not come as a seller but as a customer in mind. small shops usually have owner at store. Don't go to Franchise stores or huge stores for 2 reasons: 1- You will hardly have the owner 2- They are big and have their website and marketing designers 2- Ask them: do you have a website I like to check your products to buy or to recommend to my friend. Is it mobile ready because we mostly check on our Smartphone. 3- Pull out your smartphone from your pocket, type in address they gives you and show how it looks in a mobile device, and say, oh no! hard to navigate! Now, open a bookmarked desktop site (do not have the redirect to mobile active) you have build (can be for demo purpose) and have a business card (even a demo business card is great). Show the owner the desktop site full of contents from your Samsung, iPhone or else. And tell that you see it's like your website, can you read it? then take your business card that have a QR code and scan it to redirect to the mobile site then show how easy it is to navigate with a mobile site. The reasons why I say demo site is because don't show my clients sites as it have a redirect to mobile site and the biz owner could not see the difference between a desktop site and mobile optimized. They will look at you with big eyes. Then tell them you do mobile sites..... give your biz card (real one not demo). It works all the time and if you have 3 options it means that you have 1 out of 3 chances to have a customer for every visit you do. I can tell you that you can be busy really fast that way. Also some don't even have a website or many just have a Facebook page (huge real fans) but no website at all, you can also suggest a desktop site for a fee and a free mobile site as package. They always say yes because they have something free from you. I can guarantee it works, don't be shy, go out and do it, get clients come back and say thank you, I'll be glad to help you by posting this here. I really don't get it when people here are having problem to get clients. Market is big enough for everyone. If you don't have a 3G with smartphone you can do same with a laptop, I already post about it within another thread. Another thing very important, all is a timing question, always go when they are not busy (christmas is not great for this) choose the great time and day to visit or shop it increase your chances to sell your mobile site because they have free time to check your demo and talk with you. |

Theres some great pointers and resources already been mentioned on this thread. But also think about all the Facebook users who access their accounts via their phones... Check out the stats i know the last time i saw them they where increasing at an incredible rate something like 600 million over half of all users... How many of those shared links, likes, adverts etc link to non mobile optimized content? Just from the Facebook app alone that's a hell of lot of potential mobile traffic thats only going to increase. Referral traffic should go to mobile ready content at the very least - it's just a waste if it doesn't... http://newsroom.fb.com/content/defau...?NewsAreaId=22 |

Personally, I think it depends more on the industry you're catering too. Locksmiths, Towing Services, Gas Stations, any type of "emergency" related Health Service, and perhaps Restaurants. Outside of that, I think actually "needing" a mobile website is a bunch of hype. Sure, lots of people have smart phones, but how many actually look for a specific type of business with it? ....a quick check of Big G's keyword tool with the criteria set to "mobile devices" will give you a good idea. Here's an example (playing devils advocate): If I owned a barber shop in a major city, and you came in telling me I "needed" a mobile website, I would probably ask you how many people are searching for me on a mobile device vs. desktop? Otherwise, you are just selling me just another form of advertising exposure. Granted, I seriously doubt a normal small business owner will even think to ask that question, but it could serve as a means to justify or destroy your selling position. At the very least, I would be prepared to answer that question if I were you. One additional point is that if you do a search for something on a smart phone what comes up at the top of the page? Adwords. So, now you have sell a mobile website AND adwords for this to be legitimately effective. |

The only somewhat recent change I have seen is that in order to use the free $100 voucher, you have to first spend $25.

Thanks Jay + Jason. I think it's a great scheme, I'm still working on my website thought, which is a necessity for signing up. It makes you look like a pro and customers will always be open to getting something for free, even if they have to spend a little to get it, I think. |

Just FYI - with ios6 you can use smart banner apps to push people to open your Facebook Fan Page direct from their phone in the actual Facebook App - FB is also integrated into ios6 to be lot more seamless now too ie with the sharing feature. Remember all other ways you link to Facebook will not open the App - but instead opens actual Facebook web page in your mobile browser... so if people want to like or share a page via the website it wont open the Facebook App on the iPhone, need to double check on the droid but i don't think it does, or at least it didn't used too - and i guarantee 9/10 the user will NOT be logged in since they if they do use Facebook they will be using the App... In addition to that that for some very bizarre reason the mobile login page for Facebook is actually far from being mobile friendly. The submit button is like miles away from where you enter in your credentials... go figure! Image below shows iOS6 on the ihpone Smart Banner App using the Facebook App - clicking open opens your Facebook Fan Page in the actual Facebook App if installed... if FB app is not installed it will prompt user to install it. Hope that helps clarify what i was talking about.... ![]() |

Blog Entries: 163 | Your current and potential customers are searching for information on the web. At least 46% of smartphone owners browse the Internet on their devices “several times per day.” That is why you need to provide them with an optimized mobile-friendly version of your website. Mobile–optimized sites load more quickly. Video and graphics look good on mobile–optimized sites. Here are some more reasons you should consider http://mashable.com/2011/12/16/mobile-website-tips/ |

Hi It is obvious that now a days the smartphones users are increasing in a tremendous amount, and so as the amount of mobile internet users. When seen from the convenient point of view, it is easier to access the world wide web through a mobile device at any point of time and at any part of the world. So it is highly recommended for every business person to build their mobile website or what you say mobile friendly and gain huge trust worthy and loyal customers who can easily check out their services, brands or products and place an order through mobile itself which is the best way to shop in recent days. |
