I have about 60 Pizzeria clients and this morning a buddy tells me he knows someone who has created an I-Phone APP for Pizzerias.

This one is set up to be on Apple I-Phones, I-Pads, etc. The APP can be downloaded and placed right on anyone's I-Phone with the Pizzerias Name, Addy, Phone, Logo, etc....sort of like someone's "Personal Pizzeria Ad", right on their phone...just for that particular Pizza Place.

Now....I'm thinking that the majority of cell phones are I-Phones, however I have a NON-Apple Phone. So...this APP probably won't work on mine or an Android.

AND....regarding Selling this APP to a pizzeria owner, I think it'd be easier to sell, rather than a "Mobile Directory of Pizzerias in the area".

I'm thinking it'd be easier to sell an APP where the pizzeria would have an EXCLUSIVE ICON on his pizza customer's phones, rather than an ICON that brings up a Directory of All the pizza places in the area.

However...the limitation of ONLY going onto I-Phones would limit the number of his customers who would have THIS App on their phones.

Now....maybe I'm wrong that MOST of the average Pizza customers carry I-Phones...I have no idea.

Anyway...anyone have any suggestions on this?
Thanks much,
Don Alm
P.S. This APP works from a WP Plug-In and is pretty simple to set up and looks good too.

    Hey Don

You can build a mobile web app on http:iBuildApp :: Create Free iPhone App Using Online Interface Builder| Android, iPad platform, it costs about $10 PCM to remove their branding. This is NOT a full native app that has to be submitted to itunes or google play, but can add an icon to the users home screen.

There is an option for native apps, but more expensive.

or , another similar platform is TheAppBuilder

Found a free wordpress app offering push notifications
http://www.uppsite.com, though have not tried this

Been thinking of creating an app directory which is feature packed. basically an app that has an icon on the publics phone displaying all local businesses offerings push notifications, social media integration perhaps a live news feed/weather?.

The question is would you go with a native app or a web app? Can this kind of thing be built using an app builder or would you suggest an app development company do it?

      Thoughts much appreciated!

      Cheers

Yes! Philboy.....that "Instant APP Wizard" REALLY looks good! Thanks.

        Now....question;

Picture yourself in a Pizza Place thinking about what pizza to order.

If there was a BIG Sign that said "JOIN OUR PIZZA CLUB for Special Discounts!"

WHICH WOULD GET ME MORE SIGN-UPS....Download an APP or a QR CODE that gathers their email addy where I could send them Discount Offers?

I'm thinking that ALL Phones can SCAN A QR CODE...but not all Pizza Eaters have SmartPhones to download APPS?

        Whatcha think?

Don Alm....looking for a way to build "Pizza-Eaters Clubs"

Not sure whether downloading an APP, or gathering email will get more sign ups,

give customers one of your fridges magnet with choice of QR code and website address, they can choose how to receive offers.

Great pricing though. Have you watched the video ?

Another possibility, could be a facebook page / google plus page, with the profile picture that is a customised QR code.

I only stumbled across the instant app wizard this morning, so am still trying to figure out the SMS allowance for each customer.

I notice they also have some reputation management and social media features- facebook and foursquare.

and I'd say that the phone market is about a 50/50 split. I would suggest trying to build the app for both apple App store and android platforms.

the need for mobile/online apps are for offices ordering lunch daily. they usually choose between just a handful of local restaurants so you can leverage your app and people will see the need for it when using it several times a week.

sitdown restaurants should have apps to preorder food so it is turned around quickly for those that have limited lunch time. You walk in and your food comes out. They could easily use a barcode system to let you know the ETA of your food being done on your mobile for timing your arrival etc...

This is something that I am pushing with the clients that I am talking to now about doing mobile apps. This is huge for them. You can make a little restaurant look huge by allowing mobile and website ordering. Sometimes it is all about perception. The more advanced they are and the more things that they offer, younger customers especially notice that and will go with it.

There is an app for iphones where you can order a pizza from any pizzeria in the U.S.

Order Pizza iPhone App Launches, Get Pizza from Anywhere

You can also create an "app" for your client for Androids using appsgeyser.com This will allow someone to download the "app" to their phone which is basically just an icon that sits on their phone. Tap it and they mobile site comes up. I am not too sure how to do it for the iphone.

I don't think most pizza owners know the difference between a true native app and one that is just a mobile site. Also, customers are not likely to go the the iphone app store to search for their local pizzeria app. But....

if its available for download, many customers will download it to their phones. Twilio is great for mobile app distribution. Just set up a phone number where people can call or text a keyword to get an SMS reply with the link to the app. Also have a link to the appsgeyser page where they can scan a QR code.

    Hey midasman09
If you do not want to limit the app to iPhone customer only, try making an app for android platform too.
Yes you can say that most of the pizza customer carry iPhones, as in number studies it is found that people having an iOS devices are more likely to make online shopping and orders compared to those of android users.
Making and app for iPhone user will do the work for you, but if you want to target android users too then also make an app for that platform.

You are on to something there midasman09, we have several resellers who are absolutely rocking using similar strategies for local directories. We go into detail on some of these in our weekly live reseller training webinars.

By using our platform the directories will work with all smartphones instead of just on iphone or just on android and you never have to deal with approval processes from any of the app stores and you can build niche specific local directories like Pizza places etc literally in minutes.

We integrate text messaging, email marketing, reputation management, a marketing platform and much more for you and your customers.

Here is a video of a recent webinar demonstration

We have been building this platform from the ground up for the past year. I know we have several warriors on board as resellers.

If I can help you in any way feel free to message me. We are here to help.

      Your success is our success!
Can web apps not use push notifications yet?

    Hi mcfcok
We avoid the appstores entirely by using texting instead of push notifications. I personally turn off all push notifications and I am sure lots of other folks do too.

Our platform allows you to get any small business up and going the same day and no compatibility issues for different brands of phones etc. It works right out of the box and we try to make everything extremely easy for both the reseller and the end client using the web apps and marketing platform for their business.

What is the monthly text allowance for each client in the US?
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[7438850].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author ivewon
    Hi philboyUK
You can adjust the allowance per app as needed and we recommend you markup the cost of texting as another income stream as we supply it at a bulk rate to you. If you have a large client you can passively make a little bit per text that is sent out in addition to your monthly maintenance fee. Some of our resellers include a few texts a month with an agreed amount if they go over it costs more etc.

We make it very flexible so you can adapt to what works best for your needs. We have dozens of videos and tools built right in to the member area. You can see several things on the video I posted above.

    Hi midasman09,

My advice is: do not stick with a one platform soultion. Most people don't have an iPhone, but soon most people will have some kind of smartphone (iPhone, Android, Windows Phone). The cross platform HTML5 solutions are not bad, but you need constant internet access, you can't communicate with them via Push notifications, the webapp will be not so good looking and not so smooth as a native app, and a webapp is not always in the cusomers pocket. So you need a native cross platform solution to promote it to your clients. I suggest you InstApp, feel free to pm me if you need more info.
