QR Codes: What Generator is best IYO & Why?
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

I will be needing to create a few QR codes soon to go on our RVs and wondered what generator to use.

Which do you feel is best and why?

Would love real world experience here as the stickers I will be purchasing will last us at least a years worth of RVs so it is not something I can change 3 months from now.

Once I commit I have full skin in the game.

Also for printing what format do you normally send a QR code in to your printers?

I believe pdf format exported from Photoshop would be best.

You'll need to ask your printer though what format and resolution they prefer, also what color format (CMYK or RGB).

The biggest thing you need to make sure is no matter what QR code creator you use, always get a couple QR codes printed out as test runs first and then scan them with a number of the more popular qr code apps so you can be sure they will work across the board. Better you find out any mistakes when you have only printed out a few stickers.

I would recommend going with a qr tracking service - we offer our own but there are others out there, we use a customized version of the one developed by ventipix.com

The reason i would recommend using a qr tracking service - is when people scan the qr codes you can actually see the very time and location the qr code was scanned, as with any type of marketing you need to know your stats... especially with an RV it would be interesting too to see where they are getting scanned - could help with your marketing.

In addition to that the ventipix script also allows for dynamic urls - what this means is that you can change the destination url of the qr code without having to reprint the qr code... if you are going to have these qr codes displayed for any amount of time you can quickly change the destination of the url - you never know what may happen in the next few years... having that feature alone could save you a lot of time/money replacing them if you use static destination urls.

Another reason for going with the ventipix script is that it also exports your QR codes as a EPS file - this is the perfect format for giving to your printers... they can scale this image up as big as house or an RV! lol and it will not loose any of its sharpness.

And then lastly with the ventipix script you can also create a branded destination url - ie with instead of something like bit.ly/a92rfS you could have with our service - qrtrack.me/119/RVRentals or whatever you like - to me i think this looks a lot better than a non branded url

I personally would create a separate QR codes for each of your RV's that way you can track each vehicle.

And obviously biggest thing is link it to an actual mobile optimized website - there is nothing worse than scanning a qr code and it go to a non mobile friendly website!

Hope that helps

Cheers,

Jay

In 2013 there are many qr codes generators.

I recommend you QRBreeder - QR Code Generator, they have WordPress plugin and php versions which are awesome, easy to use, easy to install, shortener option (use your own short domain), lots of qr code types: social and business, etc.

It only costs $5.

Regards.
