Anyone whose thought of gettings mobile apps developed

Hi

I'm doing an ad words campaign for a client whose in the mobile apps space. I'm trying to understand the market a little bit more and get into the mind of the client.

I was wondering what a typical clients top 3 concerns/criteria were, when choosing a developer to work with.

I have a list of 7 things that I think would be important but I want to hear from actual users who have hired a iphoner app developer in the past or currently think about hiring an app developer.

I would like to know how many apps the developer has completed and would ask for some samples. Also would like to see an app in a similar business that I want to develop if he has done it.

Hey KarimPPC,

Yeah, I’ve developed apps in the past and I’m actively developing new ones. I think some of the common concerns are:

· I’m afraid of getting ripped off by my developer.
· I’m afraid of getting a developer and having a crappy product in the end.
· I’m also afraid that the cost to develop an app would be too expensive for me.

Another common fear, particularly with people who are starting out is the fear that their developer won’t be able to guide them through the process. A beginner would want someone who would be able to lead and help them make that leap into developing new apps. These are some of the main concerns that I can think of.

Previous experience and project portfolio, skills and references - these things are probably the most important for clients while choosing developers.

Freelancer.com is a good place to find such developers, but make sure you get some references from them about previous work. NEVER EVER hire someone who has absolute no references.

Here are the questions I would ask:

1. Do they handle design as well as programming? Otherwise you need to hire someone separate to create an icon, layout, color scheme as well. Usually bigger mobile app companies have both design and developer on staff, but if you're hiring an individual you'll need to clarify this.

2. Have they done similar apps to what you're looking for? If they have, it could save you the R&D costs you might have to pay someone who hasn't done something similar before.

3. What are their payment terms? Most companies want some sort of upfront deposit - however you don't want them running away with your money (happened to me once) so you might want to use an escrow service the first time you're working with them.
