2013 mobile facts for my fellow Warriors...

Happy New Year, Warriors! Here are a few mobile facts that I received via email this morning. I thought I'd pass them along and share to help any mobile Warriors with your marketing efforts....


  • According to Nielsen, 30 million consumers watch television content via their mobile phones. Makes me wonder why I invested so much in my big-screen HD television at home.
  • Gartner says that by 2013, mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common Web access device worldwide. Which is a reminder for all those web designers to brush up on their mobile skills if they want to stay in business.
  • Exact Target reports that 16% of smartphone users report that they have made a purchase as a result of a marketing message they received on their phone. 55% purchased as a result of an email they received on their mobile device. Turns out email isn't dead after all.
  • Nielsen also said that in Q3 2011, teens increased their mobile data consumption by 256% over the prior year. I hope their parents had them on unlimited data plans.
  • Inneractive found that there is a direct correlation between the size of a mobile device's screen and the click-through rate (CTR) the device yields for mobile advertising. For instance, the iPhone yields a 4.35% CTR with a 3.5" screen, compared to a 6.61% CTR on the iPad's 9.7" screen.

Thx for sharing. Where did you get this kind of infos? I want to cite the infos in my Essey. LoL, About the higher CTR on the iPad, I think is the iPad user is richer and they use iPad instead of PC to finish the buying behavior. But iphone users just use them to play. Thanks a lot.

Here's another cool stat:

According to Forbes, over the past quarter, of the mobile devices sold, 64.1% are powered by Google’s Android™ and only 18.8% are operated by Apple’s iOS, see original article here.

That's a quite a shift in market focus towards Android although some may think its just a seasonal blip which is hard to believe as this is based on stats from Gartners Q2 2012 mobile sales unit report, the trend (whichever data you use) is definitely towards Android (not surprising).

Just finished this free iPhone App Marketing guide with access to over 100 app source code (open source) approved by the AppStore which you can download here and I'm doubling down on the Android course because the tide is turning!

Two New Smartphones in our house over Christmas. This is where the next generation are going for their information. Mobile Apps are huge but it is still just the beginning.

I've been looking, buying almost all WSO about mobile since a year or more and none offers mcommerce.

I think for 2013 it's time to wake-up you Warrior. Go mCommerce, can't wait to see a WSO about mobile commerce or might be same as 2012 with offline businesses (restaurants...) mobile sites marketing, builder, templates, themes, sms, cpa...
I've got huge .zip files with dust on my hard drive of it.

Thanks for the mcommerce stats
Now i can use these to target eCommerce sites do make them mobile friendly.I think this is a huge market and high profitable also.

If there is one industry that is continuously growing and developing at a huge speed, it’s none other than the mobile industry. For instance, Apple sold its first iPhone around June, 2007 and in 2012, the number of iPhone sold globally stands at around 250 million (data contributed by Strategy Analytics) .
