Hi Folks, I'm about to launch a new ebook in PDF format and am in the product testing phase. I just opened my PDF on the iphone (which I haven't updated for ages) and found that the links in the PDF are not working. I click them / double click them and it just zooms the page as if it was regular text. The PDF was put together using NeoOffice 2.2.3 (OSX) which allows embedded links to be clickable in Preview (OSX) on my desktop Mac. This could be an important issue for marketers esp. who are embedding affiliate or response tracking links in free downloadable documents. This always used to be more of an issue of which software was used to export the PDF, however now there are all these platforms to consider also. Anyone else any experience of getting PDFs to behave on mobile devices? Many thanks and happy new year all, Alex. |

Ok I just upgraded the iphone OS to 6.0.1 and links are now clickable. Also tested and working on iPad. Anyone else had PDF issues on mobile devices that product creators should be aware of? |

Well would you believe it, I have just checked again on an android tablet using Adobe reader Version 10.4.1 Build 68816 Android version 4.0.3 Guess what, the links are highlighted in blue and when tapped, open up a dialogue asking what to open the link in, chrome or browser. BUT! The same PDF on a different tablet does not highlight links and they are not clickable. This is using Adobe Reader X Version 10.1.1 Build 52926 Android version DG4.0 So its a hit and miss gamble for the person who creates PDF's |
