For those of you with e-commerce websites: what is your experience with advertising your site on mobile phones like iPhone? Are conversion rates inline with Desktop computers and even tablets? I was wondering if advertising on iPhone is worth the investment. I'm hesitant because of the different form factor: do people really shop online using their iPhone? Additional information: I do not have an iPhone version of my site. It's the same on all form factors.

First and foremost do you have a mobile optimized version of your site? If not then I would leave smartphone marketing until you have created one

By advertising the e-commerce site through mobile devices, it allows to increase the business since most people use mobile devices to access the websites.

I do not currently have a mobile version of my site but I'm contemplating creating it. We sell high-end goods and I've always been reserved about whether people actually buy things using their phone. I know that with a mobile site, conversion rate will be higher of course, but is it truly worth it?

Like all marketing you'll never know unless you test it. I'd suggest finding a specific category of your products that people are searching for on their mobile devices and develop an optimised campaign for that and see what happens. If it works then role it out across the whole site. |
