Get in line. If I could sell by email it would make my life 1000x easier. I doubt many are doing it successfully. I haven't even been able to find a company that allows for mass email marketing (at least one that is reputable and won't be automatically banned to the spam filter of every major email carrier) Don't get me wrong, I hope I AM WRONG - and that there is a super secret email method that will allow me to get sales - but the more I look into the more I realize the only way to get clients is old fashioned sales. Which sucks, because I don't love sales. However, I hate not having a roof over my head more than I hate sales, so sales it is! |

Selling by email is not impossible and people do it every day of the week. But is it easier to connect with and get business owners to like and trust you in face to face or via the phone? Absolutely. It's up to you. You can choose the easier option and it will take longer to make sales or you can hit the pavement and go and see business owners and start building relationships with them that last much longer. Sales is all about confidence. If you are not confident in the product you have to sell then sales will be very hard for you. But if you truly have a product or service that you believe is going to help a business owner make more money, you should be jumping at the chance to show them. So make sure you get things right in your head first. If YOU don't believe in or get excited about the product then you can't expect a business owner to either.

1. If I get spam complaints (even if I am CAN SPAM compliant), can't my ISP shut me down? 2. Isn't there a risk of HOST GATOR shutting me down for unsolicited email? 3. If the first two are legitimate fears, then how are others using email safely?

You can sell through email at least in the US. You need to comply with the rules of the Can Spam act. A few of the provisions are the subject line can't be misleading, you must include an easy way for them to opt out, and include a real street address. We've tested and sent out well over 5,000 emails since the start of this year and haven't had any problems. At first we weren't very good results but they improved as we tested. You'll get far less result than face to face or cold calling but you can get results. If you are worried start small but don't let it stop you if you really want to try it. Sure the percentages are low but it does work, but you need to send out a lot of emails. Like any form of marketing you need to measure your results and fine tune it. Ron

You can use gmail and they allow you to send 300 emails per day, couple that with yesware and you get to find out who is opening your emails too! Then call them up who have opened the email multiple times - they are interested and want to know more....Call them and ask how you can help them. Something along the lines of: Hi Joe, I sent you an email yesterday on how we can get more paying customers into your restaurant so that you are busy even on quite days. What questions do you have? |

I am getting an open rate of over 30%, but no responses yet. The downside - it tells me how many people open, but not WHO opened. The interesting part about your system is it tells you WHO opened the email. That is a big deal! The only problem is that sending 300 emails a day would take HOURS. How do you send so many emails? Do you have an outsources do it, or do you send each one at a time? Do you have a way to send an email to many different addresses at the same time and still see who opened it?

![]() ![]() I guess you can sent (I think) 300 emails per day through gmail, by using yesware, I THINK you can see who opened the emailed. I know for sure that when you use gmail you can track and see who opened and how many times, on what devices etc.

I know a lot of people are not big fans of cold calling but the fact of the matter is selling mobile websites and Apps is B2B sales, no matter how you look at it! Yeah the product is cool and sexy but it's still B2B sales. Face to Face is the always going to be the most effective way to sell mobile telemarketing is also an effective method 2nd to face face email is the least effective method of selling mobile services

You can sell through email, but the key is it's not the type of "emails" you see people talking about throughout the forums. Each email needs to be specific, custom-tailored and relevant to the business you send it to. You can send 1000 cold emails or 20 emails that are detailed and specific to a business. Chances are you will get more responses from the 20 than the 1000. Test it and watch - sending random "HI" emails does not work, but try sending one that starts with, "Dr. Smith, I was browsing the teeth whitening section of your website on Thursday..." Good luck. |

I just started emailing yesterday. I used a similar approach with using the business name in the subject line. Out of 150 emails sent, 25 were bad emails, 37 opens & 2 appointments set. Not bad for my first time. This forum is for anyone who wants to learn. |

See if you can sustain that level of response over days and weeks. Often people will have success sending just a few emails in the beginning. Call it beginners luck or karma or whatever but it's hard to duplicate over the long run. That's why so many WSO's that say they did X and got Y can't be dupilcated because it was based on just a few responses over a short time period. If you really can sustain it, great turn it into a WSO that peole really can duplicate in their local market. ![]() |

Sendblaster is working OK for me. Even free version gets a lot of features to use and testing your email for spam score or sending it to your normal mail to have a look before sending to potential customers.

Flymen, just remember that the money is in the follow up. Email is a great way to generate interest and awareness, but if you don't have a follow up system in place, your missing huge revenue opportunities. I have been able to sell a great deal via email marketing, but I rarely find a business that just opens there wallets, no matter how compelling the email. You have to follow up.... And if your not afraid of the phone, I will tell you there is nothing better! It's a great one two punch. Good luck

I felt "compelled" to join in here and toss in my experience with "Mass Mailing" or "Mass" anything. My first business was a "Burglar Alarm" company I started from scratch. My first promotion attempt was a "Mass Mailing" to 1,000 residents on my town, which, at that time was Evanston, ILL....a college town and relatively affluent. When I didn't get one response I knew this would never work for me. So...I started up a promotion program I termed; "Pre-Conditioned Controlled Mailing"! 1) Phone prospects, introduce yourself, mention a major benefit (New type of Home Security System)....ask permission to Mail More Info 2) Mail info....(your name is seen a 2nd time) 3) Phone seeking an appointment (3rd time prospects see/hear your name) Now....before you poo-poo this, the giant PRESTO CORP paid me a "handsome" amount to set this up for them when they started their "Home Security" division. And....this can also be applied with Mobile; Example for Restaurants; "Hello Mr Restaurant Owner...my name is Don Alm. Every day, hundreds of travelers and tourists stay at local hotels and motels. I know 2 things about these visitors to our area; 1) They are HUNGRY and want to find a place to eat! and 2) They ALL carry some kind of Mobile Device. I have a way for these HUNGRY VISITORS to find YOUR RESTAURANT! It's too hard to explain on the phone so....would you object to me Emailing more info to you?" Get his email addy! Do not answer ANY questions! Just get his email addy. Send a compelling email that has a link to a Video showing the benefits to being easily found on a Mobile Device. Then....(we use SpyPig to tell whether he opens our email)....phone for an apt to SHOW HIM A MOCK-UP OF HIS SITE and HOW Hotel/Motel Guests will FIND HIS RESTAURANT! Not to much detail here. Your main purpose is to get the appt. Now...if you will go back to my initial phone call and notice that the "Answer" to my question, "....would you object...."....is a "NO!" I could have said; "May have your Permission to email more info?" This elicits a "YES!" response for us to benefit! Prospects are LOOKING for ways to "Object" to us. Hey! We're strangers and he KNOWS we are trying to sell him something! So....we "lower the barriers" and by looking for a Negative response we get the "Go Ahead" we want. This is "Psychological"....AND....It Works! So....for those of you who think "Emailing Doesn't Work" or you must do "MASS" emailing....I got news; with some "good-thinking" and using the right words....you CAN sell the heck out of your Mobile program! Don Alm....Master "Sales Psychologist" |

Yeah you definitely want to call and get permission to email. Changes the ENTIRE sales process. I first call a business owner and just try to do these 4 things... 1. Get them to talk about their business. Do they have a mobile app? Could they benefit from increased customer loyalty? Have any customers found them via mobile? 2. Introduce myself and how I can possibly help. 3. Ask if I could just send them more information, maybe an app preview, and let them know I understand they're busy etc. 4. Ask for a concrete follow up time -- such as "Do you mind if I follow up on Wednesday at the same time to see if you have any questions?" ... don't give them a chance to think, such as asking what day works for them, just get the YES and thank them for the call. This drastically improves your chances of your email being seen or taken seriously as they've committed in a light way to viewing your email and know you're going to follow up now. Just my 2 cents. |
I resell mobile apps for a company called Bizness Apps. Not affiliated at all, just a fan and supporter.
