Hello, Looking for a knowledgeable opinion whether having some of the same content on the mobile version of the main website would cause problems with SEO for Google. It would be less content, but some content would be the same. Also does it make a difference for SEO if the mobile site is in a subdomain or in a subdirectory? example: mobile.xxxxxx.com or xxxxxx.com/mobile Or is it better to register a separate .mobi domain for the mobile version. In all instances there would be a redirect code from the main website to the mobile version. Thanks. |

Hey there, this is definitely a great question. In my experience I have noticed that if content is quite different (reduced or completely rewritten) Google doesn't count it as duplicate. In any case, as explained here: https://developers.google.com/webmas...-sites/details (section "Separate mobile URLs") you can use the "canonical" and "alternate" annotations to tell Google which version of a page is for mobile and which one is for desktop. HTH, cheers! |

Create a mobile sitemap for your mobile site so that Google knows it is the mobile version of your website. They understand a mobile version is going to have some of the same content that your standard website has. http://www.warriorforum.com/mobile-m...e-sitemap.html |
