Hosting Mobile websites I'm going to ask a dumb question but I really want to know. Ok, do you host a mobile website on the same host as the website your building the mobile website for? |

Re: Hosting Mobile websites Thank you for that information |
Re: Hosting Mobile websites No! I'm not, I have my website that offer mobile website design and a seperate hosting account to host my clients site, I don't even bother with subdomains (what if you have 100+ to create? Time consuming) 1 - I get a short .mobi domain , shortest possible and easy to remember. 2 - for each clients I create a folder so if you have WP as your mobile site builder it's easier to manage, even if it's Html or PHP My client mobile site link will look like: http//mobhost.mobi/clientbusinessname |
Re: Hosting Mobile websites Great to know, I am using WP, thank you |

The site should auto-detect the browser and redirect accordingly. Most large websites do exactly this. Just my opinion though and I really don't see the point in registering a completely different domain just for a mobile version of the site. |

Subdomains are much quicker to create. It's a 20 second process. |
Re: Hosting Mobile websites Quote:
I go cpanel and use wordpress auto install, I choose directory name then click install for each WP install. If I have to do subdomains, I will have to create one, wait for dns parse (sometime it takes time) then go to cpanel and install WP. I'm not doing any wrong, I can assure you! I've been testing all things and knows the pros and cons. P.S.: he is using WP for his mobile sites just like me, I have WP and non-WP for mobile. Now if he wants to install a mobile site on his client site then best option will be in subdomain in his client hosting space. |
