Anyone here using in person conferences or online webinars to sell mobile? I have panic attacks with cold calling and cold walking in and it SUCKS. I do it, because I need to pay bills, and I don't expect any method to remove that as a necessity - at least not in the short term -

BUT

I am a very skilled, confident and accomplished public speaker. It is something I take great pride in and I would love to leverage it for my business.

I imagine giving hour long seminars that teach local businesses how to leverage technology for their marketing campaigns. In my vision the seminar is actually stuffed full of real, actionable tips and hints. I tell them exactly what I do/would do for clients and how to do it themselves.

My thoughts are that by giving them all the tools they will:

1. Get excited about the opportunities
2. Trust me as an expert
3. Realize they don't have time for that crap and forget about it or consider hiring me

I even thought about giving out an 'action guide' that they can take with them.

Who here is using this method? What have you found to be successful? How do you get business owners to the meeting? Do you charge a nominal fee to make sure they are serious - or do you host it for free?

How do you invite people? Cold calling? Walking in? How many people do you usually have to contact to get 50 to commit? How many of those 50 will ACTUALLY show up?

You know, if you are a good speaker you really need to go out and talk to business owners, I was like you at first, when I began to meet a business owner in person, but the more you practice, the more confident you are, the more you see that it is fun to do!

Now, for some reason, I also target a market that can not be done in a meeting or cold calling because of the distances.

So I'm sure you've read and bought all kinds of e-books, videos, training ... about selling on the Internet with email, mobile simulator fiinding companies .. and it also works fine if you do it correctly.

The webinar is really the icing on the cake, and that's what I do. You established yourself as an expert on the market, business owners like free webinars, you can not go wrong!

But the most important is to invite and I do personally with ads, flyers ... to capture all offline businesses.

Unlike your skills, my voice does not sound good, sometimes I do live conferences with powerpoint ... and if you hide my profile and just listen to my voice, it really gives less credibility to the show. It's not my fault I was born with that voice but I practice and do my best to enchance it.

Anyway, fortunately, my seminars and webinars are interesting and people participate with joy

I recently discovered Google Hangout is a great way to start if you don't want to use paid services like gomeeting

On your ads and flyers ask business owners to join your webinar and all subscribers to your list give them something valuable for free, like a guide ....

I tried two webinar sessions Part 1 and Part 2 another day and it did not work very well (fewer people in the room), so I suggest doing only one session. And at the end offer them a discount...

Webinar will help business owners to understand what is a QR code, why they need a mobile website, what's a mobile site, stats, how can it help them make more money.... EDUCATE THESE BUSINESS OWNERS FIRST, THEN MAKE MONEY FROM THEM NOT THE OPPOSITE OR YOU'LL FAIL!

Don't laugh, I or people I hire daily visit bricks and motars in my town and ask if they know what is a QRcode and they don't! So I give a flyer where they will learn all about it in the webinar, it's for their interest if they want to survive or their competitors will!

But I like real seminar better because you can see your audience and talk to them more friendly.
