I wanted to share some cool stuff with you. Although this is regarding mobile apps however even if you have not created a single app, then also you could make some easy (recurring) cash. Earning possibility is 'unlimited' and one app created by you pays you for many many months to come, without any maintenance or advertising expense.

NOTE: There's no use of any kind of affiliate link in this post, most of the stuff is free. I have shared my way of creating cool 'video/content apps' that makes cash 24*7.

----------------------------------------------------
You could follow this 'Cash recipe' step by step and check your admob and revmob account after 3 hours.
----------------------------------------------------

As i call it recipe, you need some ingredients to start cooking it.

Cash Dish Name: Mobile App Cash Business (MACB)

Ingredients:

1) Admob account and Revmob.com account: (Instant Approval on both, get them here)

2) Access to app creation platform (get any seattleclouds whitelabel like Createcoolapps, bizapps or mobilerathi.com): Price between $9 - $147/month depending on your selection.

3) Keyword Research: You can use software like MobileNicheFinder or NicheFinderMobile, or simply go to play.google.com.

4) Keyword CPC Research: We'll use Google traffic estimator tool to get CPC estimation. It's free. All you need to is signup for Google adwords (dont use it) and then you can access there traffic estimator tool.

5) Google Play developer account: Priced at $25 one time. If you don't have it then get it here.

6) Access to youtube.com: Free and easy

7) Focus: Priced at 'Priceless'

8) How does admob works: Admob pays you on CPC basis i.e when user click on your ad you get paid.

9) How does revmob works: Revmob pays on you CPI basis i.e cost per install.
Let's start our MACB Dish:

PHASE 1: Creating your Money Pulling App:

In my example i am using a 'niche app template' available in mobilerathi.com, i think there are similar templates that are available on other app creation platform too. To follow me you can get your account on MR for free.

STEP 1: Once you are logged in MR website (or your app creator platform), look for niche template like this, Click on Select:

STEP 2: Click on 'Use Template' and give it a name, then click on 'Configure Later', this will redirect you to this page [Click on Use Template]:

STEP 3: You don't need to touch all option in here. Click on
EDIT Pages > Tab1.html > Content.html

STEP 4: Click on youtube icon and based on your 'niche' [niche research would be shown below] enter the RSS feed URL.

NOTE: Many people are concerned about copyrights video. So make sure you remain 'in limit' by not using youtube feed of popular TV channels, or other popular channel.
What i do is, i simply don't use youtube US and other developed nation channel. I simply go for youtube videos from countries like India.
To change the country, scroll down on youtube home page and select the 'developing nation' from the country option. This way you won't face any issues from youtube or channel owners.
REMEMBER: You can also use 'youtube channels' directly in app software. Eneter the username of youtube user and you'll get all videos. AVOID video channels with over 30,000 views.

STEP 5: After you enter your youtube RSS feed, you will immediately see the 'Niche videos' in app template on left side. It means everything is working fine. Just click on Save and then done. This would save your feed.

STEP 6: MONETIZATION

Now important part, make sure to get your admob and revmob accounts.
to add your app on admob and revmob please use Google.com. It's easy (search for 'how to add android app in admob' and then same term with revmob). Both of them would give you Alpha-numercial ID's. Save them in a notepad as i'll show you how to add your ID in both.

To add admob and revmob:

Now enter your admob and revmob number in these fields:

Well, now your app is almost ready to make you cash.

STEP 7: Publishing your app

Your app is ready however now you need to wait for some time before it is approved by the MR support (takes few minutes to 5hrs). Once it is ready, you will see this:

Follow the instructions and make sure to 'enable push notification' check box that would be appear later.

Now in few minutes your app would be ready and you can download it from:

STEP 8: Uploading on Google play.

Now, i cannot write complete process for uploading app on Google play however this videos show it:

Skip to 1.25 seconds of video to see complete process.
To upload app on Google play store you need:

A) APK File: This is the app file that we have just created, you need to upload it as it is.

B) Title: Be simple on title and make sure to income the word 'Watch' in your title, this way potential app user would know that it's a video app. Example:
"Watch me Losing 4 Pounds."
Free Weight Loss Guide
Lose weight by Thursday

Purpose is to get use to your app. And as your app is listed for FREE, installation rate is very high.

C) Google Play Description: This is what makes or breaks you app quality. You need to have 'keyword enrich' description and that's why you need either MNF or NFM software. But if you are on small budget then simply go to Play.google.com and type your niche, like 'Weight' then it will exactly show you 4-6 other keywords. Save them all.

And make sure to include each keyword in your description TACTFULLY. Don't just paste them, use them and create meaningful sentence. Google Play hates keyword stuffing.

D) 4 Images: Now you'll need 4 images of various sizes. I simply take screenshot of my app using free JING screenshot software and resize them as per the need.

E) In the country option, make sure to select all and if make sure to use 'HIGH MATURITY' in every app you create. Google Play is very sensitive about the maturity rating.

F) Some more option that you could judge yourself. Now select 'Publish' and your app would be live in 1-3 hrs on Google play store world wide.

STEP 8: Keyword Research

Not all apps are profitable. You have to accept it. HOWEVER if you have done your keyword research correctly then your WORST app would still get 15-20 downloads a day (My best one get around 3000 installs per day) and you'll make money as you don't have any expense to market it.

Now, there may be millions of profitable niches however the one i really like are:

1) Recipes: These apps get crazy downloads and people want to ready them immeidately. All you have to put is the 'niche receipe' video feed in your app. Admob CPC rate is pretty good on recipe niche.
RATING: High Downloads - Average CPC income

2) Finance: Apps like credit score, account safety tips etc get less number of download however have AWESOME CPC rate.
RATING: Less Downloads - High CPC income

3) Celebrity Niches: Get lods of download and average CPC. There's lot of youtube content available on various celebrity. Yet again, make sure to not to mess with any TV/Movie/Music production house. HINT: There's celebrity in every country and admob have ads for every one
RATING: HIGH Downloads - Lower CPC income

4) How To's : Anything that start with 'How to' simply get downloads and immediate open rate.
RATING: Medium Downloads - average CPC income

5) Google HOT Trends: These kinds of apps do not survive for long however you could enjoy the cash during buzz. Google Hot trends are updated frequently for the incident happening in countries and being searched on Google. You can check hot trends here: Google Trends - Hot Searches
RATING: IMMEDIATE Downloads - average CPC income

6) Religious apps: Apps on specific religion/language/GURU etc get life long downloads and a very good loyalty (loyalty means the longer time where user keep the app installed in his phone).
Example: Pop, Vatican city, Osho, Bible, Jesus, Kuran etc
RATING: Slow yet consistent Downloads - average CPC income

7) Adult Apps (These apps get my all love): Adult stuff is completely against TOS of Google Play agreement HOWEVER here adult doesn't means Nude/Porn/Sex apps. These kind of video apps only shows sexy trailers of various movies (mostly Japanese/Korean/Indian), for this you can put a siple search term on youtube i.e 'Hot Japanese girl' these would get you the required video feed.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use admob on adult apps ONLY use revmob. Admob do not allow 'non family' content and they hate it.
RATING: VERY HIGH Downloads - average Revmob income

8) Game Review apps: These kind of apps get lots of download however i dont recommend using them as these apps contains name of the game (like subway surfer tips) and could get your account ban.

STEP 9: Keyword CPC research: Make sure to know the average CPC of your targeted keyword using Google traffic estimator (available in your adwords account). Anything over $0.30 is 'app worthy'.

STEP 10: It's a Number game: I know it could be a lot to do for first timer however believe me , it's nothing when you do it practically. You rfirst app could take 60 minutes however as you have ready template and everything in place your 10th app would take 15-20 minutes on average. So churn as much as you can.

STEP 11: This is again an important step. As these are video apps with youtube videos in it, you need to put a small disclaimer in your Google play app description (You can copy/paste it)
-----------------------
Disclaimer: This app is just an organized way to browse and view these YouTube Videos. If you found any of your video in the app, then please let me know and i will immediately remove it from the app itself.
Also this app is for 18+ audience only
------------------------

STEP 12: Motivation:
Money is motivation. Once you have your first FREE app up on store, you will see downloads and with that you will see earnings started in your Admob and then Revmob. This will motivate you.

Remember, once you app is on Google play store, it is availble on millions of mobiles worldwide. Google take care of all the marketing part (based on your Google play description) and there is NO MARKETING EXPENSE.

Consider your app business like your property. Just create once and enjoy lifelong rent from it!

PHASE 2: PAID apps on Google Play

In Phase 1 we read about free apps however paid apps is also another cool thing you should focus on, The best part about this kind of app is, you just need to create 'duplicate' app to the free one and REMOVE admob and revmob ads from it. Then again list the app for sale however THIS TIME make it paid app at $1.97 and make sure to use the word AD FREE as the first lone of your Google play description.

This is the similar app as of your last app however there's no ads in it and you make money upfront. For some good reason, you will see a good amount of the sale of your paid apps. I think many people prefer paid 'ad' free app instead free with ads app.

This way you don't need to put extra work on creating separate app and your one app would converted in to 2 apps.

FINAL WORDS: App business is continuous process and i experiment a lot. I'll keep this content updated and would share more guidelines to help you build a successful and passive income app business. Just let me if i should shut up or continue.

Let me add a few cautionary tidbits to this thread. I have had good success with publishing medium quality Android apps. Simply putting together some content, cranking out free apps to make residual income. Next month will be a year since I started.

Be very careful using celebrity names as your primary app name or title. I know several developers that completely lost their Play accounts (all apps deleted) and unpaid AdMob commissions (Google owns AdMob) revoked. All due to 'alleged trademark infringement' reports to Google. Based on experience, you can get a few accusations (and Google will remove the specific app) before they will whack an account.

Consider spreading your apps across multiple Google Play accounts. I go with about 20-30 apps per account (by niche). That way if one app gets the hammer, it may take out 20-30 apps on an account, and not your entire portfolio.

The 'video' aggregator apps can do well for you, but I (and others) are seeing more and more of these apps getting taken down. So far, no Play accounts getting banned that I have seen, but the apps get taken down with a notification of violation of Google TOS. My recommendation if you choose this route, is to spread out with other app types, because IMHO, these video aggregator apps will be frowned upon in the near future.

Be cognizant of trying to make the apps moderate quality. Put in a few extra minutes to add some quality. A few bad reviews because of a crappy app design, and you will have wasted your time building and uploading it.

Once you get good at building apps, it will take you longer to actually fill out the Google Play app form than it will to create an app.

How much have you made with this if you don't mind me asking? Even a rough estimate would be nice.

Also, have you considered learning java/xml and writing your own apps from scratch? I diddn't even know about these template app creators until about a few days ago. I taught myself how to program java using just google so that I could create my apps

No need to learn any language, these templates make it damn easy to churn out apps in no time. And you can add your own twists,

Your plan is pretty much what I do.

I tend to add a few more options to the apps. They will have videos, rss feeds, facebook fan pages, forums and anything else I can think of.

Can do them pretty qucikly around 15 mins each app.

There is also free alternatives people can use (www.appsgeyser.com/‎ is good)

My apps get around 10,000 downloads a day.

The one was going to ask is montization.

I use CPA and not 100% happy with the amount making (fill rate is down to 50% at the momemt)

How much as an estimate a month do you think should be making off that kind of traffic if used AD MOM or REV MOB?

I am personally not the fond of CPA too.

Admob is itself a cool program by Google. For me, my one app (considering i have over 3000 apps) makes me $0.05/day. It means some appd get rare downloads and some get 1000's in no time. Thus my average is $0.05/day per app.

Go ahead with admob and make sure your niche is 'family safe'

I'm going to give admob a go.

Although take back a bit what I said about CPA. I have changed a couple of offers around and my earnings and are much better.

I have around 35 apps and should be $1000+ dollars next month.

Just need to find more good niches and create more apps!

35 apps making you $1k per month is very nice. I play number game.

Currently if i could all my app store, i own around 0.20% of Google play apps

My love is admob + revmob and then push notification.

                              Hey,

Using PN could be trick and won't convery for every niche.

However a 'free' app on financial topic like Credit Score (on download of app you make money from admob/revmob) and using push notification, you can send CPA offer link to the users (lots of credit offer in neverblueads).

Many times, in non finance niche, but the buyer desperation niche like 'lose weight in 7 days' i use PN to send 'free articles' for first 3 days and a mobile friendly Clickbank 'lose weight' product on 4th day.

Though this is something i would love to keep my self however you can use 'PN' as your manual autoresponder and upsell paid product to the engaging audience.

Good thing is, in mobile apps, you make money in all aspects. Starting from app download (StartApp pays $0.01 to $0.05/download) till the time person have it installed.

All rules of 'general' internet marketing applies here and make money.

I am personally working on a private script (means not for sale stuff) which would automatically send PN's to users added every 24hrs, in a predefined sequence.

                              Thanks

                      Richard,

Be creative with your ads. I have had some success with CPA and affiliate links, you just have to do some testing.

                      Think outside the box.

For example, sports related apps have done well on CPA offers for NFL Jerseys. Also sports related apps have done well with affiliate links to Ticket programs.

Local directories do well with Tickets as well for local plays and concerts (especially on 'entertainment' type pages).

Seasonal can do wonders as well. Last fall I did well with a mix of my apps linking to Halloween costume affiliate pages.

Mix and match and split test results. I do pretty well with AdMob, but what I have found is that Admob does decent when people first download an app. If your app is evergreen and the same users are accessing it regularly, I think that they get ad blindness (that and Admob tends to repeat a lot of ads). When I have taken an existing app that has been published for awhile and change out the ads (another network, or CPA or affiliate offer), my revenue jumps for that app.

Several of my apps are designed so that users visit daily or several times a day. Therefore swapping out ads periodically exposes them to new or different ads.

Of course push notifications are another great boost. I have done well with affiliate offers as well as CPA with direct link Push Notifications. If you are using PN's for CPA offers, make sure you clear the offers with your affiliate manager. Some networks do not know how to handle a large influx of traffic from an unknown referrer so let them know in advance and I have had no problems getting paid. In fact I have a couple of AM's that contact me directly when they see an offer that they think will work with one or more of my apps.

I have not had any issues with RSS feeds, but have no clue what legal exposure there may be to using them. In my unlegal opinion, if a site/page has an RSS feed, they are encouraging the use of that feed. With all my apps, I provide a list of 'articles' from feeds, and when a user clicks on the title, it brings up the first paragraph. If they choose to click again, it actually takes them to the original article. Kinda like curation inside an app.

I am not an attorney, do not pretend to be one and have certainly made assumptions in the past that were completely wrong.

              100% agreed to you.

That is the reason i have specifically mentioned a line i.e creating app based on developing nations. There are celebrities in every country and i personally only focus on Indian celebrities because many of them are global celebrity.

I have 100's of apps on celebrities and never ever had problem with play. Only thing is, all these are Indian, Sri Lankans and Chinese celebrities.

I have tried with Hollywood celebrities in past and personally didnt got any problem though i have heard about lot of issues so i stopped using there names.

Even i know a guy who simply use his own videos in the app i.e uploading videos in his youtube account and providing RSS url in settings. This makes him dual cash:

              1) From free apps
              2) As apps are downloaded in 100's a day, his video views increases giving him authority in his niche. Thus another additional income from youtube ads + his own link in video description.

This one could take time however having your own youtube channel and advertising it for free via app, is all gold.

My revenue peaked at just over $3K per month last November with around 20 apps. I did have to take down over half my apps at that time due to 'alleged trademark infringements'. In order to ensure that I did not lose over $2K in Admob revenue, I unpublished all of my apps.

I am slowly rebuilding my portfolio taking special care to make sure there are no trademark issues.

Building apps is not my primary focus, but a good way to create long term residual income.

Can you give references to where you have seen this - being banned from WF doesn't necessarily mean anything - but as I was about to sign up with him, would be good to know the risks. As it is under $10/mth it doesn't seem a huge risk, or is there something else to watch out for?

Go to the WSO section and click 'Search this Forum' and search for 'createcoolapps'. It is not a one off price, but very reasonable for unlimited apps. The thread is a year old and still available. The support is great and updates come continuously.

I have a SkyBuilder account, 4 different Seattle Clouds providers and 3 different BiznessApps providers. Let's just say I am a little paranoid of having all my eggs in one basket. :-)

For info/niche apps, Seattle Clouds is a great way to create robust apps that are fast, professional and minimal bugs. The learning curve is not too bad if you have any experience with HTML or CSS or even basic WordPress.

For offline customers, BiznessApps is the way to go. Tons of features specific to small business owners. Of course the caveat to a BA account is the monthly fee per app. They are just now rollling out a neat feature (free) that allows geo-targeted push notifications. FINALLY. Check this out. Push Notifications on Vimeo So imagine doing an app for a band. Now having the ability to send a Push Notification to your fans in a certain city to alert them to a scheduled concert or appearance... Again, having to offset the $30 per month.

Let me reiterate that you need to get creative to monetize your apps. I am still tweaking and testing, but a basic AdMob ad in an app can get lost. I spend 3-4 hours daily on my Android phone and might click a basic ad once a month. Get creative with affiliate linking, CPA and other offers. Apps that have localized or regional content can do extremely well with affiliate ticket offers. Check this out on a mobile phone. USC Trojans

TicketNetwork via Commission Junction pays 15%. Average sale is over $200. So a single commission is around $30. Takes a ton of AdMob clicks to make up to $30.

I will reiterate, get creative, but also be cognizant of the fact the Google Play has been HAMMERING apps that are questionable quality, using trademarked or copyrighted imagery or are downright crap.

This is a great thread. MobileBond has some very valuable lessons here, and I have talked to AUKev before, he's the real deal, and you should take his advice to the bank. He's pretty good for an Auburn grad. Roll Tide!

I will add that RevMob is a good platform with some good revenue, but their full screen ads are pretty intrusive, if you don't tweak your code to make them only show up every so often. They were a lot better early on, but I've started to get some really negative reviews of my apps because of RevMob. They're based out of Brazil, and they're some pretty good guys, but also, their payment terms are kind of weird, net 45 days and if you get a wire transfer you have to pay a fee; you can use Payoneer and PayPal. The thing I don't like about them is their dashboard doesn't really let you see what you're grossing, so you can't really tell your total revenue.

i've never gotten decent earnings from AdMob.

There are a few new ad networks that are worth looking at - I'll post about them later when I remember all the names, they're sort of weird names.

      Hey,

Revmob improved there dashboard. And yes, i love them for there payouts.

Anything you ad to mobile app (you can add an CPA offer from offermobi on separate tab) will bring you revenue.

Right way is, not to spend much time on single app. Just put it there, let it start getting download and then play with any revenue method you want to.

      Thanks.

Hey! I actually do this method. I upload videos a little more complicated then you have explained. So I tried your method out. After I loaded the rss feed and the videos display on the left side. When I click the video or title of video it opens to a different page displaying just a little snippet and image. Aren't the videos supposed to play directly from my app? Maybe I missed a step. Do you know what I might be doing wrong? Thanks

What is the monetization options for createcoolapps available? Admob etc?
There are too many android apps development platform currently.

From what I found, appsgeyser(free) offers 50/50 ads space where you can add your own cpa offers (not sure about admob). App.Yet(free) offers 70/30 ad space (admob/admob mediation only).

Suggest more options and comparisons please. Thanks.

Yes, with createcoolapps, you can use Admob for monetization. Of course with Admob mediation, you have access to 12-15 other ad networks. You also have the ability to create 'in-house' ads to run which can be affiliate links as well as CPA offers.

Using the HTML page builder, you can use your own ads/banners as well. In fact I often use HTML banners within pages in the app, and run them through a web site redirector like the Pretty Links Wordpress plugin. That way, I can encode links in my apps that are static, but can change the redirect in Pretty Links to do split testing or change out CPA offers dynamically without having to push a new app update.

Of course with createcoolapps, you have access to Push Notifications that can also be used for driving affiliate offers or CPA.

    Hey there,

The choices you have to monetize your apps are unlimited but the real question you need to ask yourselves is how aggressive do you want your approach towards end users to be.
You can use push notifications, very aggressive, interstitials (advertisements in your app) a little bit less aggressive, and my recommended approach, the less obtrusive one, using out of app solutions to monetize your apps such as icon ads.
There are a few ad networks that offer these kind of monetization, but I personally recommend using http://www.startapp.com which offers a search icon and almost doesn't drive bad attention to the monetized app.

Indeed it is scalable with no limits. There are millions of video and millions of ebooks/data available for free. So there's no limit.
