I want to market apps, games and e-books in Asia. Anyone has any experience in successfully introducing an existing brand and/or creating a new brand in Asia for mobile? I have a brand that has a very good brand awareness worldwide, I want to create a meaningful business opportunity for it in Asia. I appreciate any feedback! |

I know a bit about mobile app marketing since we are dealing with it every day in AppFlood. To be honest it's a long and taught way to go for your app if you want to enter a Chinese market. Since App Store is banned in China, mobile app market has become really fragmented - there is a magnitude of different app stores that you would have to consider joining. Making an app a success is not easy on numerous different platforms. Apart from that, Chinese audience is much more reluctant towards English language apps so it's best if you have your app translated into Chinese first. Also, you may wanna consider introducing some elements of Chinese culture into your app first to make it more appealing. Thats just a few quick points to give a general overview of how the situation looks like. |

moonbridge, I think the reason for that is a lot of Asian countries are still pretty conservative. The singles here in Asia date but they rarely go through a dating service.

Joe Ray, you should also try marketing in Singapore. They have the highest number of smartphone users in Asia and a sophisticated app market.

All the facts & figures on China's smartphone users in 2013 Singapores population in 2012 is 5.132 million. So, basically China has 100X more people using smartphones, as is the population of Singapore. I like the fact that people take time to reply to posts, but at least get your facts straight. I guess people just post for the sake of posting. No matter what it is. The 2 most difficult challenges people face in China's app markets are language and Google Play Market hassles. Without going through extensive, outside measures, forget about push-notifications etc. You can still use Baidu's market to send these, but only if you 1) read Mandarin and 2) can implement their SDK's | |

Language is always a challenge. While Google Translate is a good tool, it is not perfect when trying to convey some messages from English to many languages. Saying something like " WOW super deal..... " When translated to Mandarin it can come off completely wrong to the user. You simply can't properly translate everything. You should find someone who is bi-lingual and understands the subtleties of the two languages. Then working together you can better convey your true meaning. Perhaps you should try a joint venture with someone with some cultural experience. No sense in promoting dating offers if the country you are targeting is reluctant to participate DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST ..............

I would recommend you ad networks like Inmobi for Asia, If you need any help do drop me a note tyrone@inmobi.com On Android in China - Apk download works , or you may consider listing in the local Chinese app stores. If your running in China be sure to run Chinese ads. Similarly local languages need to be used for Indonesia & Malaysia. For Thailand , India , Philippines , Bangladesh, Pakistan you can run english ads. |

Hey guys, a couple more pointers. FIrst, find a list of online classifieds in the asian cities and contact some of the translators. You would be surprised how cheap they are. YOu can't expect most of them to perfectly translate the U.S. Constitution, but they will be a lot better than google translate. Second, DO NOT…I repeat. DO NOT..use sarcasm! Trust me when I tell you that you will spend more time explaining why you just insulted someone or sounded like a douche bag, than trying to make a funny! Good luck! and stay out of Beijing! LOL |
