Best niches for mobile sites

Hey

I was just wondering, what are the niches that you have had the best success in converting to mobile customers?

Also, which niches gave you the most trouble?

This should be interesting. I’m looking forward to what you guys have discovered in your “Mobile” travels.

Thanks

Keith

It's a funny question as I think my answer today is much different than the answer I would have given you a year ago.

I'm finding that my clients all have ipads or iphones - meaning the audience itself has greatly expanded.

For example - I have an auto guy who specializes in doing interior and exterior detailed cleaning on cars. This guy has an ipad - so he only sees his own site on the ipad so of course his site needs to be mobile friendly.

It might be a bit of a different scenario for me as I live on a resort island where people traveling won't be floating around with their laptops in general - but I think the trend in general will follow suit (my own prediction) meaning that ALL SITES NEED A MOBILE PRESENCE.

So, I'd say all niches work for mobile.

Heck, I use my own ipod out a lot to look stuff up online and it has ranged widely as to what I look up. Not just local businesses - not by a long shot.

"May I have ten thousand marbles, please?"

So far, i've had my best luck in the auto repair and home services business. Also, smaller restaurants seem to be more open to mobile sites to convert to increased presence on the Internet.

Working on an autorepair at the moment however I am finding that the majority of all people I speak understand the concept.

Just mention the fact that

'this year it is predicted that more people will view your website on a mobile device so it is IMPERATIVE that it looks good and works on as many devices as possible. The internet is changing and in the future mobile devices WILL be the main method of browsing online so it's worth seriously considering to take advantage of this opportunity early on in the game...."

hope that little speal helps!

Just helping out

Restaurants are low hanging fruit when it comes to mobile. They NEED a mobile optimized site as many still use flash or have menus made in PDF which doesn't translate well at all on a smartphone. Other then that pretty much any local business is in need of mobile services. You can see a bunch of niche specific examples of mobile sites located here: Premium Mobile Website Demos | MobiDemo.net pull that up on your smartphone!
