SMS Resellers & Taxes
Share on:

Everyone I've checked with hasn't heard of any special federal taxes that target SMS texting services. My CPA also wasn't aware of anything other than income taxes.

However, states & local gov't could impose their own taxes if they wanted to. Any resellers here that have run in to this?

What about the following scenario:

Wholesaler -> Master Reseller -> Reseller -> Customers

...where the wholesaler is in one state, the master reseller in another state, the reseller in yet another state, and the customers in multiple states?

What do you advise your resellers & customers do to check on taxes?

EDIT: the one thing my CPA mentioned was sales taxes might apply if you're in a state that charges it and you're selling to a customer in the same state.
