Hello: Over the past year or so, my business has taken a huge hit. Traffic/sales are down about 90%. My site is not mobile-responsive. I got some price quotes about updating to a mobile-responsive interface, and the price range was $10,000 - $13,000. I do not have this kind of money right now unfortunately. So I was wondering: 1.) How much is not being mobile-responsive hurting my SEO? 2.) Is there any way I can find someone to get this done cheaper than $10 grand? Thanks in advance. |

Check your google analytics to see how much of your traffic is coming from mobile devices. But I doubt it's 90%. It sounds like you have some SEO issues that caused this drop. Looking at your google analytics over the last couple of months should give you some ideas. Check your google webmaster account as well for any messages from google if you have that set up. |

Good advice, I also am wondering what kind of site do you have? Wordpress? They had some issues this year. A site that is heavy on images like one of those humor sites? Those got hit too from what I've heard. Or it could just be Penguin 2.0 might have bitten you, Google is working very hard to eliminate sites from their results that they feel do not offer their users the best experience. If you are not sure what to do next, perhaps you should have a SEO expert analyze your site and offer recommendations. Good luck. | |

Just think about how your customers access your business. You may be losing a lot or a little depending on your niche. Having a mobile site is no longer optional however and you will lose some business without being mobilized. I'll send you a pm.

It might hurt a little bit right now but it's good to have it for the future. Chose a template and have someone from here (Warrior for hire section) to customize it.I think than depending on the complexity you can get it done for max $500-$1000 Plenty of my clients do it just to have a good looking website on PC and tablets. |

There are people on here (including me) that sell mobile sites that will eliminate this being your problem for as little as $397. Why not just try that and see if it helps. Responsive sites aren't always a good solution, at least not for that sort of money!

Futuremarketer, As others have mentioned, I would take a look at any analytics you have installed on the site to see what your actual mobile traffic levels are like. There are bound to be some but you have to make decisions like these based on data. Some businesses want to do a mobile site just because they think they need to or because it’s the next new thing. If the data doesn’t support doing it (and assuming its not easy for you to convert), I wouldn’t worry about it for right now. Best, Shawn |

Well, current stats show that over 75% of traffic comes from mobile plus companies are seeing visitor's response rates about 60%. Yes, you should check in with your Google Analytics stat. The inevitable situation is, mobile is assimilating the world. So either you don't get visitors or a bad rank. Hope that contributes.
