QR codes for PC sites

Is there a way, if not why not.

Why isn't there (or is there?) a USB scanner that we can use on PCs the same as there is a code scanner integrated on mobiles, then as marketers we can utilise even more approaches via QR code strategies , someone on offline suggested building them into the bottom of mouse.

Re: QR codes for PC sites

You can use QR codes for any type of URL, mobile or desktop. But what's the point of building a QR scanner into the bottom of a mouse? QR codes are meant to provide a quick alternative to web users on the move or using their mobile devices instead of typing a long website address. Typing on mobile is cumbersome, especially long URLs that have slashes etc. I am thinking of maybe scanning a QR code on a magazine ad using the mouse but I can't see the point. I can type a web address on my laptop keyboard faster than scanning a QR code.

because QR codes shouldn't (just) link to your URL, that's basic and I don't mean that nasty to you, I mean that to most who use them poorly, they can and should be used to offer various locations for the user to end up at, either with the business limiting the options depending on specifics or the user being given free reign to visit multiples of the businesses online places (FB,LI,Twitter, Instagram,Pinterest, Opt in form, coupon offers, various highly relevant landing pages etc etc ) and they could be a natural continuation of your journey home/to work where when you arrive you want to engage with that magazine ad you were looking at on the journey eg when theres a bit more privacy from prying eyes etc
