Over hyped?
Share on:

Is mobile marketing over hyped? Are their that many businesses in need of it? If this is such a "niche market" to get into(mobile marketing, mobile websites, apps) why is there a mobile marketing company on practically every street corner? Doesn't look to nichey to me.

afbjv not at all.... The world is going mobile, people bring their mobile everywhere they go. Businesses small to large sized need to have a mobile presence as desktop sites is not at all, a good in experience in mobile devices, many texts are not readable, pics look bad, etc... Consider these stats...

When you look at how many people use their phones and tablets for ecommerce, then mobile marketing becomes a necessity no matter what business you're even. Even B2B companies can benefit from mobile marketing.

Are their zombies walking around the planet looking down at their phones while they walk, talk, eat, drink and even drive? Yes.

Do these people use the convenience or a portable internet connection to look up a local business every now and then? Yes.

And if they were looking a business up on their mobiles do you think it's a fair possibility that they might be looking for that business? I think so - yes

Would a business look better if they had a properly mobilised website? Yes.

Would a bad website experience make potential customers look away and go elsewhere? Yes.

Is it true that most businesses have either no mobilisation or a horrible "responsive" website? Yes.

Is helping a business communicate with their clients in a way that appreciates that their customers actually use their mobile phones "hype"? No - obviously.

It seems like a rhetorical question to me.

It's not a niche market. It's a traffic source...and it's HUGE. It is not quite as untapped as some people are saying though...there's a lot of hype to that.

Every so often this conversion comes up in the forum about mobile being "hyped". Well, yes, sure...to some degree it is. But isn't SEO? I suppose the point is that it's still in its infancy - sounds crazy but it's true. The way mobile will intertwine even further into our daily lives will be profound.
