If you want a good traffic for you, then you have to target in all ways. Mobile advertizing and social media promotion through Twitter, both take some time to give a good result to you.

I agree with you as people spedns less time on twitter and more often on making funny hashtags or just following the celebrities. High profile person do it in serious ways.

In future we are going to see all on mobile as it easy convenient and potable. Now it self mobile sales have gone up while for Pc it's going down. SO targeting mobile user is a good idea. The tablet user comes under this category only!

SMS advertising is better than twiter. Because 98% read sms within one minute. You do not need internet access for SMS as you need for social app.

many people don't use twitter that much and many people don't have twitter accounts so I guess mobile advertising is better cause Almost all of the people have mobile phones that use to communicate and the good thing is mobiles don't use internet to interact with other people.

I think it's more of a complementary application with twitter.
The main reason being that on twitter you can constantly provide updates while with mobile text marketing, you generally want to be more peculiar about the messages you send out the the frequency will differ quite a bit from the twitter updates that you do on a daily basis.

Mobile marketing is definitely on the rise BUT, better than twitter?

Seeing that twitter's ad platform (if you're talking about paid ads) is fairly new, it still has some growing to do... but we're seeing great results so far after dozens and dozens of different tests.

But at this point, depending on what you're doing, selling, etc., mobile marketing has a vast reach...

I say, try both and see which one works for YOU specifically.

Both things depend on the type of targeted user type. Let me explain, if your yours targetted users are less educated or non technical then twitter/fb promotions if useless. i.e., farming instruments for farmers. If your targeted users are technical then social medias are better than mobile marketing. i.e. online clothes shopping or daily deal business.

For me it has to be Mobile

mobile marketing reaches individuals through multiple mediums as follows.
    • Mobile Web Browsing – mobile internet, allows users to access information and purchase mobile content from a mobile device. Microsites (a separate page from a Web site) allow organizations to run a specific marketing campaign for a few months. For example, a museum can run a promotion about a special exhibit.
    • Audio/Video Streaming (VOD) or Live Audio/Video and Download, connect with users through audio and video ads which are eye catching and effective in attracting viewers. For instance, product launch webcasts, training programs and live televised sports events.
    • Short message service (SMS) or text messaging, allows for short text messages to be sent. Despite the 160-character limit, it is a rich-interactive medium which is the basis of mobile marketing. For example, coupons, trivia programs, charitable donations, voting services, are but of few interactive methods utilized by businesses. It also can be used as a billing medium for content consumption (games, applications, ringtones, and images).
    • Multimedia Messaging (MMS) allows users to receive text and images on their cell phones. Multimedia objects such as scannable coupons, images, audio, video or rich text allows organizations to send attention grabbing visuals to individuals.

The success of either mobile advertisement or Twitter promotion would depend on the following -
    1. What is your aim?
    2. Your Target segment?
    3. Your Budget?

For all the above parameters you need to be 100% precise and clear.
If you take my advice and if you do it right then you should not underestimate the power of Twitter. The traffic is massive and the exciting part is that it is a free source. Just be yourself and do not promote any product rather provide a solution with your offer. If you can do it right I bet you would be the winner. If you still need more help then let me know!

I will say mobile advertising is better because I ran a facebook ad recently and close to 85% of the impressions came from mobile phones. This is truly a sign that people are spending more time with their mobile phones.

However, Twitter can be an effective medium as well if you know how to use it. Here is a case study done by Digital Marketer: Twitter Advertising ROI | A Case Study From Digital Marketer

There is only one way to know if mobile advertising or twitter is a more effective medium for your business needs and that is to properly test each. Are you using mobile landing pages and tracking for your mobile campaigns, can a mobile user easily complete your offer?
You can get mobile traffic from twitter too, are you properly segmenting your market? I presume you are using twitter ppc and not trying to compare paid mobile traffic to free twitter traffic. Have you tested twitters various ad types?

You have to be like a scientist and logically test, track then compare results using an equal but adequate amount of traffic from each source. Its the only way to be sure.

I read a stat a while back that said 29% of all Twitter Tweets are actually read...with mobile marketing, you get about a 98% open rate, not to mention it's more personal and instantaneous. For that reason, it's a more effective marketing method.

I'd say Mobile Advertising is way better than Twitter. Mobile Marketing is the future. Big players like Facebook and Twitter are also opting for Mobile Marketing.

Mobile marketing is better than Twitter for one thing, but Twitter is better than mobile marketing at another. Basically, if you're doing SMS marketing, the people have opted-in and are interested in receiving new offer, deals, and news about your product/service. Great! But Twitter is better at broadcasting the news to everyone out there on the 'net who hasn't signed up to receive sms updates. There are a lot of other nuances, of course, but that's one thing to take into consideration when thinking about which platform to focus on.

Advertising your business through mobile marketing or twitter depends on type and need of your business. I would say mobile marketing is better than twitter since everyone has mobile these days but not everyone of them use internet on their daily bases. If you get a text message you always check them first. The mobile marketing not only use to promote business but also to stay connected with your valuable customers like sending promotional or short code sms giving updates about your services/products.

I think that they are quite different ends of the spectrum. For example, people get on Twitter all the darn time, but let’s face it, how many people are actively engaged on their mobile at all times (that is right, everyone is) I think that your ad will speak more than the actual location will. Having said that, I prefer Facebook (it was mentioned earlier) over Twitter.
