Is there a way ti offer mobile coupons for a vacation area where people stay for week? They would have to automatically taken off the list at the end of the week so they are not getting texts when they get home.

I offer sms services. When you offer sms you must use a permission based system. Users must opt in and have an available opt out link by law! The new TCPA Laws of October 16 2013 require that all text messages have an opt out link that come from Canada or USA and some foreign countries! What this means is that the user can opt in to receive special promotions, discounts, coupons, event notifications and more and they give you permission. They can opt out automatically when they get home by going to any saved text message and clicking the link if available and/or by replying with the word "stop" Most sms systems just use the reply feature to stop! People who join the sms list know that they gave permission and will opt out automatically when they no longer want to receive text messages!

Other you can do into your database and remove them! But I have never seen a platform or software that you can set a unsubscribe date!

Also there is one exception to the October law. If the person is asking for information only, ( not asked to join a club ) and would not be added to a list then a confirmation for opt in is not required. example. Text in for info on a property listing. No confirmation is required

With the help of marketing automation, you can activate weekly campaigns for new opt-ins and once the week is over their campaign would end. The key is to set up marketing automation for this type of campaign. |

I would imagine that you could have a simple script written that would run on a cron job (weekly) and remove subscribers from a date 7 days prior. Doesn't seem like it would be that difficult for a programmer. You might post to Odesk and see what happens.

Depending on your offerings, you might consider a mobile app. Many of the app builders now offer Geofencing and Geo targeted push notifications. If you could get users to download the app, you could send notifications that they would only receive if they are in the targeted area.

What SMS platform are you using? I'm a developer and I've worked with most of the top ones. If you're interested, I could take a look and see if I can come up with a quick solution. |
